So is everyone mad at me now?

Those of us who serve our country, and who are sent to aid those in need, well, we get run down, some start to doubt and ask "why". We have to remember that we serve a greater good, and yes there are those idiots who tarnish our honor with gross misdeeds, but I choose to believe that the people of Iraq, in general, were crying out for help. I think it would have been irresponsible not to go to their aid. People criticize and ask what gives us the right to police the world, it's because when others are in need and when it all goes to hell for anyone, no matter what they look like or their religion, we have to help because we can. We are asked not to express negative comments because it would hurt morale for everyone, and private citizens would pick up on it and it would snowball from there. We want to come home to our families too, but we have work to do, and I won't be home until the job is done, you don't have to support the war, I do ask that you support us, if you pray, pray for us...until the job is done.

In this country we are supposed to have freedom. That's why this whole war is so hypocritical. They say we are fight to maintain our freedom, but are constantly trying to take more of our freedoms away. Now if we disagree with the president we are traitors. We are turning into the societies we criticize.

You do have the right to voice your opinions and beliefs. There are individuals out here who cannot form thoughts and even less agree with all the information and facts in front of them.

I remember when the word president was written with a capital "P" in the news paper back in the day.

Such titles as Senator and Congressman are typed in print with capital letters.
News reporters should give their opinion on a situation and not formulate one for us to follow (blindly).

It is not that we can't it is that it is not good too do so. There is an unwritten code about it. What if you were in a job that depended on the people around you to live. And each day you complained about how you wanted to go home, how you wanted to be away from their. What kind of trust and confidence would the others have in you to help them in a time of need. As for talking bad about the President, no soldiers are not allowed to do that. While we may not like him, talking bad about him undermines his authority over us. We can be dishonorably discharged for that. The military is about doing the right thing. Even though we don't like someone we have to respect the Rank, and the President is as high as it goes. Don't hate you for it though, that is what we fight for, the freedom for you to say ans ask what you want, even though we can't.

Who said soldiers can't express being homesick or wishing the war would end? I'm sure every soldier feels that way.

of course the military service members get homesick, wouldnt you if you were thousands of miles away from you family and loved ones in a war torn country? it is natural. you vote for who you may. it is your right. our military fights for your freedoms so you can express how you feel. my husband has went two times and yes they do get homesick. they dont get to tuck their children in there beds at night. think of how the children feel also. but no i am not mad at you for your feelings. those feelings are yours and are that is the great priviledge for living in the us. god bless the troops!!!!!

Who is against military personnel expressing their homesickness or wanting a vacation from their job? If that's going on, I'd better stop going to work and start watching the news.

Military personnel should only follow the direction that they have been given by a direct commander, or have been instructed to carry out on a routine basis. It is essential to the military that there be no dissent, and no corruption of the military thought process. Defend, protect and serve the people is what they do, so perhaps the military is not for everyone, and that's OK.
