Maybe you should take the time to learn something about the Liberty incident.
Like - for instance - the US Navy had lost track of the location of the USS Liberty and had advised the Isralies that it was over 150 miles from its actual location. |

I disagree with you on your last sentence. I think our gov't is a disgrace to our military. The military works off orders from them and in a lot of cases ties their hands. |

The USS Liberty incident was in the 60's, this hijacking is 30+ years later.... suffice it say things change over 3 decades.
Plus, the USS Liberty attack was declared a friendly fire accident. The ship was mistaken for hostile while Isreal was already at war. If you recall, the US has also killed many ally soldiers in "friendly fire" incidents, where would be if every one of those nations declared war on us for our mistakes?
That said, I have to agree with the other answerers, specifically "our government is a disgrace to our military", and they do often tie our hands. There's no excuse for politicians making decisions that should be made by military commanders. Politicians decide WHO we fight, Generals decide HOW we get that fight done. |

You DID say something bad about soldiers: you said, "Our military is a disgrace to all Americans." That's what you said about our soldiers.
USS Liberty was a) 30 years ago and b) a friendly fire incident.
Nowadays that would not happen, and neither would our military ship get attacked. Any attack on a US military ship would be silenced before it rang. |

Don't you think it's just some of our leadership from the top down. Check this out for a life changer.

the crews of merchant ships are civilians going about their daily business.
members of the armed service signed up knowing that at any given moment their life could be in peril.
im pretty sure our military doesnt decide when they do and dont fight. i think that decision falls on congress and president buddy.

You can believe that if ya want travis.... but almost everyone with even half a brain knows the USS Liberty attack was deliberate. |

Hambone you are correct the USS Liberty also has a mission to defend the Constitution and defend the people who fall under the protection of our Constitution. That means that all citizens of the U.S. are protected by the flag that the ship flies, and therefore should have the protection of the U.S. military. Our government did a disgraceful thing by not issuing orders to the USS Liberty to resque the cargo ship from the pirates. No matter where in the world the Cargo ship is sailing. |

The US will pay the ramsom from our Tarp funds then issue an apology to the pirates for making them wait for the payment...congress will them pass a law outlawing canoes on Lake Erie.....typical. |
