Some questions about Basic Training at Fort Jackson.?

Alright, my boyfriend is leaving in either late may or early June. He's going in on Tuesday to sign all of his papers and everything. I have no idea what to expect. How will it be for him? Will I hear from him at all? I've not gone more than 24 hours without talking to him since we met three years ago. Will he ever get the chance to use a phone? How about writing letters? I want to make him a picture album, but are they just going to confiscate all his personal stuff as soon as he gets there? My cousins going too, in September to Texas. The two biggest and most important people in my life are leaving within the next five moths, and I really dont know what to expect...I guess to sum it all up, what should I expect?

Yes, it will boring for the first week and then off to start the real process of bct! Yes you will hear from him. Usually everyone gets a phonecall within the first 72 hours of reception to let family members know they are ok. You will probably go about 3-4 weeks without hearing from him by phone. He can write you letters mostly on sunday evenings though. And lastly the will take all the extras he brought onto bct....so I wouldnt make the picture album but hey i guess he can always ask his recruiter..Good luck to him

Don't worry. I've heard that the basic training there is cake walk.

lol if you want the truth, relaxing jackson gets to use thier phones and write letters . but if you want the further truth 30 males / 30 females , both training together for 9 weeks he probably will forget about you. i seen it happen, fortunately i was never at fort jackson for bct, i went to benning, but trust , ask any military personnel military girls are notorious !

when my brother trained at fort jackson last summer, he barely called. they have phases that they go through, that give you privileges. Others in his bay kept getting everyone else in trouble so they never made it out of the first phase. you can write as much as you want. im not sure if they will take away a photo album. We sent my brother pictures throughout training though.

He can write and recieve letters, but don't expect to recieve any phone calls from him for at least two weeks. After that you only will be able to recieve calls from him on the weekend. When he gets there they will do one of two things: have him ship all his personal effects back home or store them for him. The training is intense and there isn't much time for phone calls.
