I believe this is the question you referred to: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AumsRfTlQ7EGOQX6DgJ.uXPsy6IX?qid=20070830065040AAPYCRx
Worst of all is that these were fellow "americans" accusing you of being a terrorist in disguise. Of course, you were speaking pro-peace, hence in their mind you must be a terrorist.
I hope each one of those accusers eats crow, and hope that they don't like eating crow.
I support the troops, including you. I don't support the Iraq war... the troops should be elsewhere, not in some president's big mistake. |

It's pure BS! what a democracy, ha!!
You can not express your opinion about this stupid war and it outcomes now days!
As you said, you'll be called names. Its ridiculous beyond words.
I hate this war and this administration, for this past 7 years brought nothing but misery, hatred, partisanship and a huge deficit which goes out of tax payers pocket.
Sure, bush has nothing to worry about along with his evil cheney and other fellow criminals who, all had their hands in this "unjust" war. They've gotten their fat behind rich of this war. Hope they rot in hell. |

Sorry glory! I cannot support a war I have never agreed with, do not agree with and never will agree with. Our troops, for the present, are another story. I do and will support them. I don't know where you are that you would be hearing what you are but it certainly isn't around the New York area, where I'm from. You continue to be faithful to yourself and your experiences and you won't go wrong. Good luck to you soldier! |

OK, we've got a number of "I support the troops, but not the war" answers, and a few folks that don't believe that it's possible to do both.
Without going into the subject about whether or not we should be in Iraq, I'll suggest a few things that folks on both sides of that question can do to support the troops.
First, give blood. Anyone in reasonably good health can do this, and whether your blood goes to the troops or not, you are helping to maintain the supply of available blood, which in turn provides support to the troops.
Next, donate some money to the USO. Remember them from the old movies about WWII and Korea? They're still around, and still providing help for Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines all around the world.
If you can afford a bit more, send a donation to Operation Helmet. ( www.operation-helmet.org )
They provide helmet liner refit kits free of charge to Marines in Iraq.
It appears that the regular issue helmet liners are uncomfortable and fit poorly. The improved ones provide a better fit and encourage them to keep their helmets on.
Which saves lives.
So, here are some ways to support the troops, whether or not you support the war. |

First of all. It is not a wrong choice to sign up for the military. It's what is right for you. My husband is in the military. I support you guys, I wish you didn't have to be there. These guys didn't voluntarily sign up for war but when it happened they did accepted their duty without whining. I can't believe how hateful some of you are. You are so full of spite. These guys are doing what they have to do. Unfortunately every war has crimes against civilians and they should be punished but it's not a new thing. To the ignoramous who compared it to Hitler and nazi troops. You need to check up on your history because thats a whole different ballgame. Those guys had a choice. Are you excusing everything they did because they were told to do it?? Thats probably one of the few things you know about history so you run your mouth about it. You guys need to get a clue before you run your mouths. It's tiresome. |

Anyone who risks their lives deserves respect for that... At the same time everyone deserves to voice their opinion, no matter how ignorant / disrespectul it may be. |

I've been in Iraq for over a year. I am against any and all war. The problem is, Saddam Hussein had a different opinion than I. And yes, some key points were distinctly left out of the planning phase. The problem is, this isn't actually a war. In a war, you kill people and go home. That's not what this is. Still, I will gladly fight the battles my country asks me to fight, even if that means freeing the citizens of Iraq from tyrannical rule so that we can build the country up as an ally. |

My Dad was a disabled Veteran, he served in Vietnam and when he got back home the hippies spit on him and did various other rude things (middle finger, yelling insults, nasty cardboard signs etc...). I was 5 at the time he told me this, and at that young age I decided that I would ALWAYS respect our Troops and give them all the support possible. I write to 3 soldiers over there and send care packages. I hope to later join the Army Reserve. Thank you for defending our Nation and standing up for what's right.
Hey- check out my blog: http://www.freedomrockz.blogspot.com/
Also to anyone who'd like to send some support to our soldiers:

War should always be the last option. We should never waste human life if not absolutely necessary. Also, no matter how "smart" our bombs get, civilians also get killed. If I was the president I would keep the army well staffed, well funded, well trained, with all necessary provisions, including body armor. But I would seek never to use the military unless their was no other option. |

The far right believes that anyone who doesn't support their wars, is a terrorist, ironically. |

They say they want war, and call you who served in the war they're so thirsty for, a terrorist?
Pathetic republicans are what they are. I'm a conservative by birth and even I'm repulsed by those who keep wanting a war. |

My Boots are in the sand now and this is my second tour over here. I support the War as well as the troops. Some people like going into things and finding things to complain about I come over and do my job. Do I like it over here no, do i like being away from my kids? no, Is it my job to second guess the officers appointed above me? No.
Bottom line if you come over here looking for stupid stuff and reasons to hate the war and the politics of it you will find then right next to the reasons to stand behind what we are doing and why we are here. |

So because a government ordered troops to a place that I feel they should not have gone to do somthing I disagree with - I have to shut up and support the governments decision because if I don't they will try to make out that I hate my country and that I don't support our soldiers ?
If I am not free to disagree with the government and it's policy's what freedom are these soldiers fighting for anyway ?
What you are trying to do is called emotional blackmail
No I do not support the governments position or it's order to the Armed forces - and no I am not going to back down on that because some people want to try to make me out to be anti troops because I do not like the orders thier political masters have issued -
Now if ----IF - the politicans realized that they worked for us the people this policy would come to a quick end - but they are convinced we work for them - and as a result they feel it is okay to label thier employers (the taxpayer) as a terrorist for having the audacity to think that the people who pay them have a say in what and how the people's soldiers are used
Those troops contrary to popular miscinception work for the tax payer - The politicans work for the taxpayer as well
It would be nice if the political masters would shut up and become the public servant they were meant to be ; part of being a "public servant" is to say yes sir, to the people who feed thier children and put a roof over thier heads |

I support the people who can think for themselves that made the wrong choice by signing up for the military.
If I go into further detail I will just piss people off or get myself in trouble. |

I dont support the war, and to be honest I dont know if I support the troops. And you chose to "do your time in the desert" so dont try and shove that in anyones face. And besides in my opinion the middle east was a better place before the USA came here. |

I support the troupes and the war. However, the powers to be have not conducted the war well. This is not the troupe's fault.
The biggest reason the war has not (or seems to have not ) gone well is the lack of support by people who do not see our enemies for who they are.
As Americans they can say what they want but they also must accept the consequences of their statements.
They howl when they are called traitors , but that's what they are. in spite of all their so- called" intellectual " rantings. |

I'm sorry that you have to face this. I support both the war and the troops because you really can't do one without the other. I'd love to talk with you about what you've seen and the actual good that is going on over there that we here in the US don't hear about. We need to fight this war and win so that our troops will come home triumphant. You all are following orders that are beyond our comprehension so you are right-no one here at home sitting in luxury should say a word. Thank you for your service and trying to make the world a better place. |
