Tattoos in the military?

Ok im 17 and thinking of joining the military to be a fireman. But i am thinking of getting a full sleeve tat. It's not gang related or offensive,would the military disapprove of it? cause if it will prevent me from joining then i wont get it.

I know a few people with full sleeves and i have one BUT they are not colored in. If you get it before BMT they will measure it and it has to cover no more than 25% of exposed body part. Also i definitely wear long sleeves more often than i like. in the MX world it's not as bad as in you were a Nonner ( not in MX) It would really look like crap though if one day YOU HAD to wear short sleeves in your blues. But being Maintenance (MX) we don't wear blues very often and if we do, it's full service dress. Hope this helps.

why the **** for? what will a sleeve tattoo do for you? YOU want unwanted attention from your Drill Instructors?!

eh, i'd get it after you join just to avoid any hassle if you really want it.. but it sounds like you know the answer to your question and know the military doesn't encourage it. it doesn't sound like you want it too bad, so why get it.

Do you realize how ugly those things are? You are 17 today. Do you really think that, when your 87, you'll enjoy having it???

Look, I'm 24 and young people don't realize that the actions they take today will affect them forever.
