Any tips as to which areas to really focus on right before the test?
I test in 3 weeks and I haven't retained anything that I've been studying! Help. When I was a new Airman I was given advice before my CDC test to study a certain area in my CDC's and I passed because I studied that area harder right before I tested.
Anyone have any suggestions for me?
Any last minute areas to focus on prior to testing?

1. Just read the PFE study guide. You'll be surprised at how much you retain on a multiple guess test.
You have time you read the study guide cover to cover at least 4 ti,es before you test.
2. On the SKT, read your CDC's cover to cover.
Then also read the test questions and only the correct answers,
Do not read the wrong answers. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That way, if one of the CDC test questions is on your SSGT test, the correct answer will be familiar.
3. Ifpossible, take some leave the week before the test, then you can study around 4 or 5 hours every day, taking lots of breaks.
On the day of the test, wake up early to skim both the PFE and your CDC's,
Then show up early for the test, and just relax before you go in.
Thats probally one of the biggest factors, make sure you relax before the test instead of trying last min studying. |

Even if it wasn't test compromise, someone would need to know your AFSC before they could provide that information.
When I retired 4 years ago, the cutoffs for SSgt had become so low all you needed was 4 years TIG and know how to sign your name. |

Unfortunately any advice on a certain area to test is considered test compromise. Don't stress out so much. Is this your first time testing? I made SSgt my first time and I walked out of that room thinking I had bombed it horribly. I actually scored in the 97th percentile on the SKT and the 99th percentile on the PFE and was number 26 in my career field. Relax and review your material the day before the test. I don't believe it's in the regs that you get the day off before the test for studying but most supervisor's will accomodate their subordinates. |

Get the PFE gold material that is out there. Also, there are surveys published by the AF that show where questions fell last time around and what the Chiefs feel are the most important areas. Have no idea where to find them, but hubby used it to set up his study schedule for Senior, and it using the latest one for studying for Chief.
You aren't allowed any other advice, as anything else would be test compromise.
As for test taking tips:
Deep breathing before and during the test if you are getting stressed.
Trust yourself, don't keep changing answers
Positive affirmations - I can do this, I can master the test, etc. No negative thoughts.
Take a seat in the front or in a corner so you can focus away from distractions of others.
