I do happen to agree with you, though for reasons I'm not sure. I am very proud of them myself, but you only have to look at the odd post on this forum to realise that not everyone supports them.
Our Armed forces have been constantly reduced in size and influence over the years to such an extent we would not for be in a position to do a Falkland Islands campaign again.
As for BRITS OUT comments, unfortunately he sees only one side of the picture like most nationalists, they only want to hear what they want and choose to ignore what they don't like.
It would seem that is is ok for a Irish Nationalist to shoot people in the back and run away (and blow up people), but when it's the other way round then opposing side should be embarrassed!!! A strange perverted kind of logic me thinks!
BRITS OUT, the IRA believed in the 1970's they were at war and were killing soldiers and civilians at the same time. So if there were squads dedicated to kill certain people then that's war for you my boy. I don't know what the fuss is about and I would expect any country including Southern Ireland to do the same if it had a group of Armed people going round shooting and bombing people.
By the way my mother was Irish for Macroom, but I try to look at things with a more balanced view.
I'm am sure the Brit Government would only be happy for Ireland to be one country again but I don't think the majority of the population in Northern Ireland would accept it (in time maybe but not at the moment). |

Why should the British behave like the Americans? |

Erm they do...They probably have more, but they don't BRAG about it as much as the Americans, (they brag about the size of their poo!) |

I have to disagree with you on that one. I think the British have just as much pride in their military if not more than we do. After all both Princes are now in the Military too. Shows a lot of pride if you ask me. |

why should the country that taught your inadequate lot everything they know about strategy and tactics have to boast like you do. you're only famed for your friendly fire |

They have great pride in their military, where'd you get the idea that they don't? |

Whoa sparky, let me tell you something. I was in the military for six (proud) years and during that time I was FORTUNATE enough to work with the British military and they were great troopers who took their jobs seriously and were good at it too. Don't slander people that you know nothing about!!! |

Speak for yourself not the rest of Britain......... My partner was in the Royal Navy for 11 years and served in the 1st Gulf war! I have nothing but admiration and respect for the Armed Forces. I think you should think before opening your mouth as you clearly don't know what your talking about. |

what r u on about?
the difference between the support 4 the US military & the UK military is the americans were told the truth from the begining regarding iraq.
over here we were kept in the dark.
regime change was never an option 4 b'liar, but he followed behind GW anyway!
Blairs judgement day is fast approaching, c link below.
i support our troops but NOT THE WAR!
we all have pride in the military, they're doing as they're told & obeying orders.
& r in no position 2 question the reasons. |

They do have pride in their military. Have you ever seen the changing of the guard. They are just like our Honor Guard. The British have great pride and intergry in their military. They also have more history and tradition in their military than we do as Americans. |

I am very proud of our military it is just squaddies have a bad sterotype and civvies like nothing more than gobbing off at what they have no knowledge of ... some prime examples on here for instance(brits out) and the only reason civvies get hammered is they gob of and cause trouble and our boys finish it off some people are so annoying i am proud of my country .. proud of the miltary and cant wait to go into town with my hubby and have a bloody good drink and welcome him back home |

They do have great pride among their troops. You would have to be in Britain to see it. I am sure there is a little animosity among the British troops in Iraq, as there is with the American, but there is still lots of pride. |

I think the British are proud of their military, that's why we do not have as many deserters in the Army as the Americans do. |

Becasue we've had centiries of perfecting the art of raising an army with people who want to be in it and serve their country quietly. PLUS we are respected for our approach in times of crisis.
With our friends across the pond they join up to think they can be an army and make people do what they want them to do and have only had 330 years practise...keep at it lads you'll be respected by everyone in time |

There is as much pride in the American army as there is in the British army. Where do you get you info?. How do you measure it!?. I've served beside Americans and they're just as proud as us 'Brits' ....as we're affectionately called. the American army is huge and the British army is getting ever smaller ( thanks to this slobbering Labour government) but their pride and determination is as huge as the Americans. Would you prefer the 'proud' Pakistani army?. |

Respectfully request information regarding the source for your conclusion that the Brits have less pride in their military than Americans have, assuming you mean Americans' pride in American military |

I think it's a matter of viewpoint. The culture is different, and their feelings about the military are still somewhat tinged by past history as far back as Cromwell.
And thank you for serving us so well. |

i think the British sympathize with their troops, unlike the Americans we aren't so happy about sending men to die in a unjust war...
on the whole i am personally very proud of our military forces it takes a lot of courage and endurance that a lot of people nowadays don't have... |
