1:Officially, North Korea is backed by China who we don't want to mess with.
2: Unofficially, we care more about Iraq because Iraq has Oil that we will get a peice of now that we control them. N. Korea does not. |

Possibly the UN is having some sort of effect on Bush's decision this time...we scred up so badly in Iraq that the uN and other countries are less likely to back us on a second war. |

As for North Korea, they are stretched to thier military limits, and it would only end up as another Vietnam. Disastrous.
It is only because at last, apart from Pearl Harbour, and 'planes into New York. the precept was being immune as a continent. Not so ! Sorry, my cousins in the USA, but us Brits generally consider your governments' actions to be daft.

We're already fighting 3 wars at the moment (Iraq, Afghanistan and parts of Africa)! We are stretched dangerously thin as it is, and before you say it, we can't just "pull out" of any of them overnight. It's just not possible to ever instantly withdraw military forces from a country.
I for one don't want us to start another conflict at the opposite side of the Earth unless we finalise at least two of the other conflicts we are engaged in (Not by withdrawing, but by winning, as otherwise we leave a lot of mess for despots and dictators to build on.). |

Main reason is that they have not tried to kill eveyone who opposes them like Iraq.
For those who want to believe that it was for oil then they really are looking through rose colored glasses. |

2 Reasons, first North Korea isn't going to anything without Chinas backing, they need Chinas money. And China won't risk their growing economy over a war. They may be Communist, but unlike Russia during the cold war they have very little need to spread their ideology across the globe.
2nd, taking China out of the picture, North Korea isn't really a threat directly, they have no ability at this time to attack US soil. While Iraq doesn't itself have the same capabilities to attack the US. Iraw can easily give those weapons to terrorists to use here. Now it turns out there were no WMDs, but if there were it would just have been a matter of time before some terrorist got his hands on some.
Lets stop using the damn oil excuse, We get more oil from Canada and any other country in the world, and 50% of our old comes from the western hemisphere and Iraq is in the eastern hemisphere. |

Because the Chinese Red army is sitting on the border of North Korea and will not sit idly by and let the US do as it pleases in China's back yard.
They did swarm over the border during the Korean war and stopped the United Nations (mainly US) army dead in its tracks. The US generals at the time where desperately pleading to be allowed to use Nuclear weapons.
Oh and China has ICBMs now and North Korea has no oil |

There's no oil in North Korea and also, because of the ongoing war in Iraq, we dont have the resourses (finance or armed troops) to pick a fight with anyone else |

Korea actually has the weapons and would not hesitate in using them.
Also they have already kicked the US butt out of the area previously and would love to do so again. |

Dear friend,
Thanks to God this war against Korea hasn't happen. Otherwise we should be prepared to the End of the world.
I'm pessimist , but this is the real state of things.
Korea (and China) are too strong for us (US , Italy and UK).
