What are we still over there subjecting our troops to more mass killings?

What do you think would happen if we immediately pulled all of our troops out of Iraq?
When you answer that question you will know the answer. |

@dded : Lack of the Military verifying or denying the retrieval of WMDs to the world does not mean none were found. The world had proof ( WMDs are NOT JUST Nuclear in nature They include Biological, chemical, conventional explosives), Saddams gasing of the Kurds was proof of WMDs!
Added :For Those who don't know :The authorization was sought by President George W. Bush. Introduced as H.J.Res. 114[2] (Public Law 107–243), it passed the House on Thursday afternoon at 3:05 PM EDT on October 10, 2002 by a vote of 296-133,[3] and passed the Senate after midnight early Friday morning at 12:50 AM EDT on October 11, 2002 by a vote of 77-23.[4] It was signed into law by President Bush on October 16, 2002.
This Law declared war in Iraq. Look it up. |

we made a commitment and we are going to see it through. sure, the idea of pulling everyone out of iraq right this second seems great.... but its not practical...nor is it safe.
by the way... dont use the word "we" until YOU have personally been there. until you have been in war, dont pretend to understand it or think that you know what is best. Once you have served in Iraq, then you can give an educated opinion on the subject. Just one more reason I am NOT voting democrat.
If a person is to have control over our military, he needs to have served in it first! |

Time for a little analogy. A surgeon initiates open heart surgery on your dad based on bogus information. He's halfway into removing the old man's heart when he realizes, "Hey, this guy isn't supposed to get the transplant!" I guess he should just wash his hands and go play some golf? Nope. you break it, you fix it. Doesn't matter if you broke it based on a lie. It's broke now and you're responsible. |

because if we leave the terrorist will influence and kill the people in that country so then all the men who died would have died for nothing but if we stay we can clear out the terrorist and turn it into a full blown democracy and that will influence the middle east to become one as well |

Your premise is false, and your question is based on a lie.
You must be a liberal. |

Many reasons. First, Bush has been determined not to allow any withdrawal. Second, congress is nervous not to harm their chances to hang onto the majority by being branded as weak on notational security. Third, defense contractors are making a lot of money on the way, and they donate a great deal to both parties to stay. Fourth, AIPAC is adamant that the US do something about Iran, and leaving Iraq would hamper that. Fifth, the US is building permanent bases in Iraq to take the place of the ones they left in Saudi Arabia. Finally, despite public protests, countries like Saudi Arabia and others are concerned that a pull out of troops will cause Iraq to destabilize, and of course, the Kurds are doing quite well and need a hand to maintain order. |

 |
Probably geopolitical positioning. Wars over the long haul end up being seen by the masses as pointless because it's the majority that are the ones who are getting screwed and killed... those making the decisions obviously have things they want done out there, or else they wouldn't be shoveling billions into the operation. Maybe it is to help the Iraqi people and build democracy over there... but I seriously doubt it. |

Good question but one that needs to be addressed to the President of the United States however I need to ask why do you say it's based on a lie? 9/11 happened.. we have been terrorized.. so I don't know if you can call it lie. I do feel that we are no longer welcomed there and we are just spending money we don't have however I am not sure we can just pull out with out consequences |

What lie, there was no lie. Stop spreading BS that has already been disproven.
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
Iraq is a long way from here, but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18,1998
"We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry ( D - MA), and others Oct. 9,1998
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of an illicit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bus h, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations. "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002
"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-if necessary-to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9,2002
"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real" - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 |

the war based on lies. presuming you are american, your president turned iraq into a country of chaos, your president has the obligation to set things right.
american troops should not leave iraq until all of the suicide bombings, murders, kidnaps etc cease. |

cheap gas so we can keep polluting and contributing to global warming. Everyone always complains about gas being SOOO expensive but bottled water is cheaper...people think that a life should be sold for less than $4 a gallon, it's just not right. As Andrea Gibson said: our lies have seared the sun to hot to live by.
This is why I can't wait for the bush administration to be GONE! |

The war isn't necessarily just about gas. In truth, it is about money. Many billions are being made off the war - that is why the plan to go to war with Iraq were completed long before 9/11. It had to be done to repay those people who had bought and paid for the politicians. |

The troops are in Iraq based on a lie...so riddle me this? YES
There are too many are ignorant and will respond with disinformation as you will read along with thumbs down.
Many conveniently forget that that country was our ally before 1990. The GW Bush administration eventually admitted no link to uranium cakes from Niger and to Usama Bin Laden with his groups and allies. |

because Iraq sits upon the second largest known oil reserves in the world
from link
the sands of Iraq hold oil... lots of it. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), "Iraq holds more than 112 billion barrels of oil - the world's second largest proven reserves. Iraq also contains 110 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and is a focal point for regional and international security issues."

It's not about WMD's
it's not about liberation
its not about democracy
it's about oil
Conservatives don't care about the troops.
not a whit
you might as well be talking about screwdrivers or bowling balls.
talk about cash
Conservatives understand THAT
and what do you think these factions in Iraq are fighting about?
the Caliph?
they fighting over control and the oil revenues that come with it.
that is why the difference between Sunni and Shia don't mean a thing. |

We are still there because of a misguided, narrow-minded, arrogant President who believes he is the only one who is right and who thinks that whatever he says is the absolute truth. He fails to understand that the reason there is violence is simply because we are THERE, when we have no business being there, and that our mere presence is causing the so-called "terrorism" that his war on terror is supposed to wipe out. So his actions are causing the very thing that he is trying to wipe out by his actions... a circular process that goes nowhere and accomplishes nothing. Since it is circular, we are there because we are there, and that is why we are there.
Unfortunately, George Bush just doesn't get it. |
