Find answers to your legal question.

Thinking about joining the Army Reserve as a MOS 68D (Operating Room Specialist)?

I am thinking about joining the Army Reserve as an operating room specialist.

There's a recruiting station in my city, but I'm not sure whether I qualify. A recruiter talked to me, and I think he was put off by the fact that I am taking Paroxetine (an anti-anxiety medicine)

Some of my questions are:

-I'm 17. Could I immediately start my training as a MOS 68D at 17 yrs old?

-How strenuous is training for the Army Reserve? Do you have to like go to boot camp and stuff?

I really need help with this!

The recruiter was "put off" as you phrase it because he knows you are medically disqualified from enlisting. Below is the applicable section of Army Regulation 40-501 "Standards of Medical Fitness". This is the regulation used by all military branches as the Army runs most MEPS Centers:

k. Current or history of anxiety disorders (anxiety (300.01) or panic (300.2)), agoraphobia (300.21), social phobia
(300.23), simple phobias (300.29), obsessive-compulsive (300.3), other acute reactions to stress (308), and posttraumatic
stress disorder (309.81) are disqualifying.

As it clearly states anxiety disorders are "disqualifying".

Good luck to you.

yes, you go to "basic training" for the army. bootcamp is for marines and navy, but the same in concept. whatever you decide to do best wishes.

All branches of the military have there own basic training. So yes you do.
