Are you talking about it being bad or good from the civilian perspective or the military personnel who is actually being deployed? There's a difference between what society sees as bad/good and the pros/cons being a part of the deployment.

Also, a lot of civilians do not realize deployments are a normal part of military life. They seem to think deployments only happen in a time of war/conflict.

Good. That's the whole reason for the military. Also, my cousin and uncle were both in Iraq and they didn't have a problem with it. And no, before any POS jumps in saying the were rear echelon, my uncle was with MEU (Marine Expediationary Unit) and my cousin was 82nd airborne.

US combat veteran. We should get the heck out of the mid-east. Deploy the troops when it's honorable, necessary, and in our country's best interest. Do you think US troops in Iraq or Afgahnistan is going to help those people? They've been living under their own laws for centuries. CENTURIES. Ten or twenty years of US troops is not going to change them. Let them do their own thing. It took the USSR over 50 years to learn that that kind of rule cannot work. Let those countries have their own revolution. That's the ticket. Yeah.

If someone joins the military they will probably be deployed.

I think it's good because I think if we have more people watching each others back Their will be less deaths, and the terrorists might get intimedated enough to finally end their so called "jihad". If we were to pull out like Obama wants this will just be a morale boost for the terrorists and we'll be right back to square 1.
