What types of working dogs are used? Does the handler go through Advanced Infantry Training and Military Police School?

And like the last person answered, no you do not go through Infantry Training.
Your AIT (Advanced Individual Training) after basic will be Military Police School. You are an MP (31B). After you attend the Military Working Dog Handler Course you will gain the additional skill indentifier Z6 (31B ASI Z6).
As far as I know, you have to go through Basic, AIT, and get staioned with a unit before you can attend the Military Working Dog Handler Course. Most likely you will need to talk to someone at your first unit about volunteering for the Military Working Dog Handler Course.

You go to MP OSUT
Then after you have a couple of years in the Army and are a E-4 , you can apply to be a military working dog handler and go to the working dog handler school.
You do not go to advanced Infantry training, your not infantry.
This is not an entry level job you can enlist for. |
