U.S Army stories, experienced, Info?

Well ever since i started learning about the army, from school, newspapers, The war on Iraq, and now a new president, the army has interested me.
Even though im still at a young age, i wonder alot about it.
Like the ranks, the combat, and what goes on.
Can anyone tell me about those things,
or anyone who has been in the army and what rank were you, how long you were in the army, etc.

Sgt - 1950-59 - I wouldn't trade the experience for anything but at the same time I wouldn't recommend it at this time. Not as long as Obama is the President. I don't believe it is going to be a very good deal right now. I am worried about the troops who are in the Army now because it looks like he is going to cut, cut, cut. |

There is just to much info to put on here. Im sure you must know some Army veterans. Maybe a family friend or a teacher? You would be better off talking to a veteran in person than asking questions on here. There are to many people with political agendas on here that could steer you in the wrong direction. There are also many books out there about the Army.
It is a good life and there are many opportunities for a young person to have a great career and get an education in the Army. Probably one of the greatest oppotunities for those of us who are not rich to start a better life from humble beginngs. |

Whole books are written about this subject so there is no way to tell all of that here. I served for 6 years and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I wouldnt trade it for anything.
I served from 2000-2006 and was an E-5 sergeant. I think considering a career in the military is a wise thing to do.
All that being said I would have to agree with one of the other contributors, wait to see how this mess in Iraq is going to turn out before enlisting. I was there, it was ugly and from what I understand its only going to get uglier. |
