US Army Special Forces, is it hard to join?

I really want something challenging in the military and I know it's going to be hard so I'm looking at Army Special Forces. I'm basically healthy as can be, the only health problems I currently have are allergies to pollen, I'm not mentally unstable or anything like that. So the questions are as follows.

I plan on going to college first, should I do ROTC while I'm there or is it not needed?
If I go to a recruiter will He/She point me in the right direction?
Basically, what should I do all help is appreciated.

I do wear glasses/contacts Is this an Issue?

As long as you meet the requirement, with your eyesight, I don't think you should have a problem. As for your pollen allergy, I would have thought this could be treated.

A recruiter will be able to answer your questions and provide you with advice and guidance.

Anything you can do whilst at college (rotc), can only do good for your career. The fitter you are the easier it will be when you come to enlist.

First of all, your recruiter is most likely going to tell you not to report your allergies. (And that is probably what you should do if you want to get in on high profile). Trust your recruiter, because he will do anything in his power to get you through the loops. Your eyesight should not be a problem as long as it can be corrected to 20/20 with glasses or contacts.
Now one thing you should know about the army: usually if you are the top 1/3 of your class, you will have a better choice of where you want to go (So start working on your physical fitness!). But even so - its the army. They tell you where to go and what to do, regardless of what you really want. Much of your army career will depend on being in the right place at the right time.

i am asking the same question from what i understand the pre-training that lasts 24 days is where most drop out but even so i think it is probably extremely hard but the SEALs just get the most attention and everyone underestimates the Green Berets but one thing that makes me wonder about how strong Green Berets are was i watched this show on them and there were guys that were bigger and carried the heavier stuff and were called Ox because they were so big bodybuilder wise which makes me think there not that strong because there are still noticable strength differences and more big buff guys unlike in the SEALs

The people in the army cant be allergic to pollen or where glasses your training for war for goodness sakes! you think if your contact falls out there gonna give a **** if you can properly see or not?!Nope.
