Does the Air Force have a high demand for the CCTs right now? also what kind of tech training is thought while in training...and how difficult is it?

Yes, the AF is looking for potential CCT candidates.
Ray gave you a good simplified answer on what type of equipment CCTs use. I could sit here and list nomenclature like SMP-1000, PLGR, PRC-117F/G, ICOM, GCP-1 and on and on until you fall asleep, but you're not going to know what any of it is.
You won't be learning how to fix complicated electronic components in CCT .. and you won't be repairing multimillion dollar equipment. You will operate some of the greatest and latest tech equipment as it pertains to your job, but you'll also balance it out by remember the old ways .. ie, shooting the azimuth.
ATC school is difficult. You're basically learning a new language called aviation, it's a lot of material crammed into a small amount of time. You'll have to learn new principles, terms, equpitment and their applications etc. If you study, don't slack off and truly learn the material .. you should do fine.

Any MOS in the Air Force or Army that involves integrating/planning/directing Fire Support, particularly Close Air Support is and will continue to be in high demand.
Someone in the Air Force will have to give you more detailed answers and info on the specific equipment, but expect lots of land navigation training with and without GPS, laser range finders and designators of varying models, map reading, different voice and digital communications equipment, etc. |

They are always in high demand for Combat controllers.
The technical training you will receive is air traffic control training. For some, it is difficult, for others ATC training is not so bad.
you also learn how to operate other radio systems, but thats not so bad.
your biggest worry should be the physical aspects of it. If you can pay attention and do what your told, then the technical parts of the training should not be too bad. |
