My Wife's brother is married to a SGT who was in the air force. She got out last November because she was pregnant and I guess she decided to get out instead of finishing her contract which is new to me because I didn't even know females had that option.
Ok so here's the problem their both back home in NY with their 2 infants and they don't have health insurance and one of the kids needs his shots. Now can I add them to my Tricare health insurance so we can get this child squared away ???????
also the husband works at Walmart and I'm not sure how they implement their health insurance he's only been their for 2 months I've asked some of my buddies but honestly they know about as much as me
Now for his wife she isn't working right now she's a stay at home mom I've tried to figure out if she still qualifies for any type of VA. Health assistance or even if theirs such a program out their. she was in for i think 2 1/2 years to 3 years I know she got out on a medical discharge.
Now with that does she still have any benifit's that she could possibly used to help her out ????? I'm just stomped and worried about their newborn and toddler

LOL thanks anna for that get off her A$$ commient i've tried but I don't know seems its not sinking in and unfortuantly its gotten to the point where we can't wait on her.

You cannot add other people's, non-dependent children to your Tricare. Any attempt to do so would be fraud and you would risk your military career and a potential court martial.
Additionally, women have been getting knocked up for years to get out of the military. That's why when a unit gets deployment orders, many women end up knocked up and leave, thus, they are the "pregnancy brigade."
If their income is low enough, the kids can be on Medicaid. If not, tell the stay at home mom to get off her a$$ and get a job. If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford to not work. |

They need to contact the Department of social services in NY and apply for Medicaid for Children. In Missouri a family of 4 can earn $40,000 a year before they become totally ineligible for the program. I'm sure that Walmart doesn't pay that much. This is a program that is partially state funded so the income guideline may even be higher in NY. |

I don't know anything about Tricare, but BOTH children should be able to recieve coverage under Medicaid through your state. Just have mom and/or dad contact Dept of Health and Human Services. |

You can't add them to your insurance unless you have custody of them because they aren't your dependents.
She should have some kind of insurance available if she's still a reservist, otherwise this is one of those things you should think about before getting out of the military. |

There is NO Medical Insurance assistance
for Children from DOD or Dept of VA...
No you cannot put them on your insurance plan...
As others have Mentioned...
Contact the NY State Child and Family services...
as there is a Medical Plan for Children... |

The public health department will give the kids shots for either free or low costs....somebody just has to get the kids to the Public Health Dept. |

Instead of taking advice from non-military people on this forum, just write a letter; remember those, to the Department of Veterans Affairs. You will need something in writing for your records and keep it. Sorry to be blunt, but when it comes to people’s health, you must go to the source and don't take false advice from strangers. |

You mentioned she got out on a medical discharge. If she was medicaly retired for a disablity then she was given a disability rating and she was given a retired ID card. If she has these then she and her family are covered under Tricare, contact them. Also see if she is registered with DEERs. Good luck |
