what would happen if you threw a grenade then took your army helmet off and put it over the grenade and stood on your helmet, would you blow up or would the helmet save you

By covering the grenade, you would limit some of the blast radius but you would still be in a dangerous area. Take for example, Medal of Honor recipient Marine Corporal Jason Dunham. While in Iraq, there was a grenade thrown into the center of his squad, reacting quickly he put his Kevlar helmet over the grenad and then threw his body over the helmet. The blast killed him, but saved the lives of the fellow Marines in the immediate vicinity. |

Combat helmets have been known to not even stop some bullets, therefore, you would most likely die |

Helmets are made of Kevlar, which is pretty weak when it comes to anything more powerful than a .38. 9mm's have even been known to cause severe brain damage when shot at someone wearing a helmet from mid to close range. |

At the very least your feet would be blown off. Anyone who has ever thrown a grenade (everyone in the Army and Marines) knows how much power is in one little grenade. It is really quite spectacular. |

Beleive it or not I had a buddy in my battalion who did that. He is now disabled, but he is alive nonetheless. The only thing is he quick-released his body armor and put that over it too. He is a true hero and I love him for it. |

The helmets aren't really designed for that. It could possibly, but more than likely it would just absorb a little bit and make it slightly more possible to survive.
Jason Dunham did the same thing I think (only he didn't stand on it of course), unfortunately he didn't survive.
You would probably die, or at least lose a lot of your legs. |

If you survive you would probably get kicked out of the military or put in a mental institution. No normal person would try to do this. |
