If the US is prepared to launch an air and missle attack then the US will definitely win, but if it's a ground war it would be more uncertain.

Make absolutely no mistake but that if the US is so morally bankrupt and asinine as to war with Iran ,the US LIKE IN IRAQ ,will win the BATTLE but sure as hell it ,again like in Iraq,will LOSE THE WAR.

Such a war could so easily result in a Middle East Armageddon and again make no mistake whatsoever but that the Arab/Muslims will be left NO choice but to put aside their rivalries and ban together against the US and Israel.

Make no mistake either ,that the radical Sunni Wahabilis of Saudi Arabia (who in fact control Saudi Arabia ,not the Saudi Family) will react by overthrowing the Saudi regime and render Saudi Arabia into a quasi-Islamic State not un-lie Iran but un-like Iran ,Sunni not Shia.

Further,such a stupidity will enrage Iran's supporters namely China and Russia and even support among the allies for any such US action will NOT be there at all .

The US as usual is responsible for the situation with Iran today.

In the 50s and 60s ,the US actively in defiance and abrogation of it's requirements under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, aided and abetted Israel in their acquiring of nuclear arms capability.It was the stupid war mongering US that created the POWER IMBALANCE that exists in the Middle East today an which poses such dire consequences.

If one helps one country to get the BOMB, why can't another country do the same.

Israel should NEVER ever have been allowed to get the BOMB and neither should Iran but it is too late.

It is time Americans realize just how many fiascos/messes they are in because of the all powerful Zionist lobby in America.

Of course the U.S.!!! Thats obvious! Now, war? War over what? Are we winning in Iraq? Lots of questions arise from Military Conflict! It's not certain what possible military missions we could engage if that were to happen! All I know, lots of People will die!

This question is not as simple as you put it.

There is the question of who would support Iran and America. Russia and China are (I think) trade partners with them and this is the reason war has not broke out yet between Iran and the US.

Not to mention our military at the moment cannot handle another deployment in the Middle East with the current workload. The advantage our troops will have is experience from combat from Iraq and Afghanistan and better equipment. The down side is our military is already drawn thin and spread out and unless there is a draft (and we all know how that would go over with the public), a war with Iran will not be possible. Our military is not invincible, it has limits.

Not to mention a war in Iran would make domestic leaders in Iran position stronger, not weaker. It would be divided between parties (the religious leaders and the actual political leaders) but if invaded, the people would be for their position.
It could even be used as a means to rally support from fellow theocracies and unify the region against us. Where in the US, such a move would weaken our leaders position and possibility lose their jobs.

Not to mention the religious leaders can start their own covert cells and use religion as a means to create terrorist cells within the US. It is possible these people could call on the Muslim support from around the world.

It would not be an out and out battle. They would be a lot of things politically and economically going on in the background both domestically in both nations and internationally that would determine the outcome just as much as the tactical descions.

Iran hasn't the assets, the Manpower, or the ability to mount much more than a defensive campaign. We already have the Largest military force in the Middle East and Near Asian in Iraq and Afghanistan, so technically we have Iran surrounded.

It's not a question of numbers, it's a question of capability. Iran's miltary is roughly equal to what the Iraw military was during the first Iraq war, See how good they did against us.

In the 15 years since that war we've developed better tactics, greater knowledge of the region, improved weapondary.

Iran has rhetoric and the threat of the bomb. Big deal.
