Some reasons why I think he was correct;
1. If any one person had the knowledge of such a dichotemy as the military inductrial complex, it was he.
2. Prior to WWII, our military was usually very small and then enlarged during war time. This changed with the constant threat from the U.S.S.R. after 1945. This enlargement of the military (caused by the constant threat) is what caused the creation of the behemoth defense industry we have today (along with it's large funds and political lobbiest).
3. In response to "Red Top"; Eisenhower oversaw the creation of the intersate highway system, the integration of our public schools (it was he who sent the 101st ABN to Little Rock, AR to enforce the Supreme Courts ruling) and the creation of the space program (he created NASA), in additon to other things. I think hostorians of the future will rate him much higher than contemporary one's do. |

i didn't click your link - however i remember the speech - yes he was 100% right - i am surprised he wasn't murdered after the speech - he probably was to.
