Was there an industry making money from the Vietnam War?

Every defense manufacturer made money during the Vietnam war and every war.
Millions of Union workers made tons of money working for these companies and getting lots of overtime as well.
The companies which packaged food for the military made money as did the field laborers and factory workers who picked and canned the food.
If you are looking for a conspiracy of some kind forget it.
The folks who made the big $$$ were simply opportunists taking advantage of a war that Kennedy and Johnson started and promulgated.

The entire Defense industry prospered. Lockheed, Gruman, etc. DOw chemical didi pretty well. Anyone that made Military equipment and who supplied logistical support to the military. The folks who made field rations, cigarette manufacturers has cigarette's included iin the rations, creating a new generation of nicotine addicts.

Airlines running MAC charters (remember the old world airlines..they went out of businedd within 10 years of war's end), Container shipping firms
etc.

Fraud

anufacturers of Arms and Armaments, air-crafts, bullet powders, missiles, petroleum product producers, automobile industry, telecommunications, textile industry - infact War is the best thing to put a country's economy backon track, specially if you charge money to your allieds for the arms and ammunition you supply. Ofcourse even the film industry - for all the vietname based films they made. Al have been beneficiries of the nam war.

If there is a war or a war scare people buy more guns, governments buy more guns hell everybody buys more guns.

Who makes the bullets and tanks and outfits and all equipment needed by troops?

I read somewhere that some people high up in our govt. issued erroneous statistics on troop losses to us so we wouldn't panic and make a fuss.

I'm sure there's more to be told, but I do not have the info.

We were fighting for free trade which the Communists didn't allow. People thought that as more and more countries prohibited free trade the world economy would fail. So in a sense it was about money, but not any one person's money in particular. If you go to Vietnam any time soon, you will see Coke factories, Mc Donalds and other big American companies doing business therefore all of the soldiers who were sent over there to protect free trade died in vain essentially.
