i think it saved tons of people on both sides I'm glad we did it and I'm glad i have talked to 4 of the men that did it

Yes it saved the lives of hundred of thousands of US troops and enemy troops also.

Unfortunately, yes it was effective. However, it only sparked another war... the Cold War. Ever since, the world has become terrified of nuclear threats and on several occassions the world has witnessed some close calls (Cuban Missile Crisis, Korean nuclear missile tests, Iran nuclear buildup, etc.). How many more close calls will there be before the actual one occurs?
