he was korean, not chinese. what is ironic is that the us and the news hasn't said it was terrorism. had he been from any of the "sand" countries, he would have been a terrorist.
now, what IS SURPRISING to me is that no one tried to tackle him. i just watched an interview of this dude that was in a classroom with several other students, and they were holding the door shut to keep him from getting in. he (they) heard a magazine drop to the floor and then allowed him time to reload. and he stuck the gun in the door way that was about 6" open while he fired rounds into the classroom.
now, granted i can't say exactly what i would do in the same situation, but i would think that virginia tech is full of rednecks just like most of the southern universities, and i would think they would have jumped him and took control of the situation.
by the way, i am from georgia, and i am not trying to sound racist, but i know there are rednecks down here..we readily admit to it. and the ones i know would have taken a bullet to whoop his a**, especially if they were to have gang tackled him. hell, down here, we would have not only tackled him, but beat him to death and then tied him up and called the law.
my deepest apologies to all those suffering from this kind of insanity.
what i want to know is why? what was the purpose? and where were his friends? there must be someone out there that knew he had these guns, and they should be held accountable for their knowledge. also, wherever he got the guns from, those people should be held accountable as well.
there that is.
again, i express my condolences to all those parties.

Not overly surprised. I mean my first thoughts in my head when I heard about it where some white male, but I guess that is profling. However I didn't hear that he was Korean and say "Oh Gosh I don't believe it!"

Actually he was from S. Korea. I was a little surprised too. Asians, in my mind, are normally peaceful people. It just goes to show, you never know.

sort of. But the other stuff about him fits exactly people describe him as a loner who had few friends. These two factors played bigger in my mind than race did.

The one thing I thought of the second I heard about the shootings was my poor Boyfriend who is underway, and was involved with the Colombine shooting....I wanted to know if he was handling it ok... I don't think of race when it comes to things like this because for all you know it could be a friend or family member. I never think about race...

No, there are tens of thousands of foreign nationals in out university system. Who do you think pays to keep our Universities open? It isn't the neighborhood kids going to State! Every college and university in this country goes abroad to recruit foreign national students to attend their schoold because they pay cash and a lot of it to attend our schools.
