I like and own .357 Magnum, .38 Special, .327 Federal Magnum, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 9x19mm Parabellum, and I would like them for Self-Defense. I like bullets in Hollow-points for Self-Defense.

First poster...I don't like to reload handgun ammunition because it's a more precision job than rifle loads and more prone to blowing up in your hand. Usually, we just use blazers. |

There seems to be plenty of reliable ammunition out there, but I usually stick to my own home made ammo. Nothing better.
I have been relaoding ammo for 20 years. If you can maintain some common sense safety and use a good relaoding manual. I use Hornady. I have also experimented a bit and have my own data. You will not have any problems with hand loads. I mainly reload .38 special, .357 mag, .45 acp, 9x19mm and 10mm.
CCI Blazer ammo is the worst factory ammo I have ever used. There is no consistency in there loads. You can tell by shooting it. It's very easy to tell. Out of the one box some loads will be a bit hot, some a bit low and some in between. I'll stick to my own thanks. When it comes to reloading I use the exact same precision on rifle loads as I do handgun loads. |

Check out Extreme Shocks....been using them for a while now....very $$$ but very good.
Big Bore ammo is another good choice.

Blazer.
Hollow points will indeed expand quicker, for the 9 mm , 38 and the 45 acp, I would go with something else to gain just a tad bit more penetration. Some auto loaders do not like hollowpoints, they don't ramp well. |

The most trusted weapons and ammunition are the ones you have used the most and not had any issues with stovepipes or misfires. If you reload your own ammo and are good at it, than you would consider that the best ammo because you know what works and what doesn't. With that being said the following are excellent brands for each of the calibers that you described. CCI/Speer, Cor-Bon, Federal, Remington, and Winchester. However, I recommend that you buy a box of each for whatever your primary weapon is, (because you will only be using one...maybe two weapons when it is actually time to defend yourself) and pick your favorite brand. Then put several hundred rounds of the brand you picked through your pistol. You will then have "Adrian's most trusted/reliable ammo" You are the one that has to trust it. No one else.
