First an answer to your question, cowards run away from combat for a reason, they are scared, no amopunt of money in the world will get them to come back

as far as mercs go, I personnaly think that mercs are dangerous and crazy as the F*** but You have to fight fire with fire, and the threats are just as dangerous and crazy

Most contractors are required to do background checks and provide the government with employee information. It is in their best interest not to have deserters on their payroll.

its called a Contract. You have to finish one before you start another. If you were the leader of one of those contracting companies would you hire someone who quit the military? On another note you cant be a contractor most of the time unless you have combat experiance. I love anyone who fights for this country wether they get paid 1000 a month or 20000 a month. But the military is the door to those opportunities. Once youve done your time honorably the go and be a contractor. Anything as long as were on the same side.

Mercenaries or not if your on our side good. And if not your the enemy. Whatever one thinks about contractors is their own opinion. Those guys are hired to protect The troops convoys and media. They have a 70% survival rate. Thats why they get paid so good. They have honar. If not they wouldnt be out there. Also they are vets who seen their buddies die and held back from acting by the Geneva Convention and UCMJ. The same reason we are losing this war. Now as Contractors they "feel" they have more of a chance to do something. One who has not been in these positions can not speak. Its a hard knock life Bro! Support the troops, ALL the troops! The first thing those contractors want is military experience, which means they want a real DD214 from the government telling exactly who you are, what you've been awarded and trained on, and what kind of discharge you received. When they find out you were dropped from rolls they will look for someone else they can trust. And I didn't meet any contractors over there that weren't prior service.

Private contractors want employees they can trust, especially since those employees are authorized to use deadly force and could cause an international incident if they have poor judgement or no integrity.

Most soldiers didnt join for the money cause lord knows we dont make a lot. most soldiers join out of a sense of duty and the desire to serve their country and i dont know of any who would dip out of their contract for the money.

Two words: Core Values. All five services have core values that contain one or more of the following: Duty, Integrity, Commitment, and most important HONOR. If a person can't live by these values he/she should not be in the military.

Actually, the US has almost always used mercenaries. From the French during the revolution, to Teddy Roosevelt's rough riders, to the Lafayette Equadirlle and the Flying Tigers, we have sent private civilians into harms way in almost every war.

As for why they don't desert and sign with contractors, the reason is obvious. Being a marine or ranger means you have a little more discipline and desire to fight for your country. Besides, these contracting firms don't have things like medical evacuation or reserve forces to help if you get in trouble. Having that kind of eases your mind at night.

Hoping for more accuracy on the second shot? How about this. If they want to work for a non-American country, and never come home, there is a chance that it might work. But they are too honorable to do that to their buddies.

Someone on these responses came as close to the correct answer as you are going to get. Those men who operate in the military and specifically the special operations community feel obligated to finish their contract and adhere to the oaths they took to this country and each other. However there are regulations that allow soldiers to leave the military if they can prove that a future job can pay them exceedingly more. Don't know the reg. off hand and you spend the time finding it yourself. Most of the soldiers I knew who used this loop-hole were in the intell side and, because they had a top secret security clearance, went to work for civillian companies in D.C. and around Ft. Meade, MD.

Where do you get $20,000-$25,000 a month? Our 4-Star Generals at O-10 Paygrade only base out at $14,000 and change. Even with incentive and combat pay, no Ranger comes CLOSE to $20,000 Grand a month. Sorry, your facts are way off.
