Had Bush listened to his military advisers and generals and gone into Iraq with the recommended 350,000 troops, America would not be in the position it is in today. A successful war, taking down a dictator who needed to be ousted, is always good for public opinion both at home and abroad. We would have had half of the deaths, spent half of the money and had none of the insurgency. An exit strategy - on which relied on the use of only 150,000 troops - wasn´t pondered until well into the war itself. I don´t mean to say I agree with the war, but I (and I would think, a lot of the American public) would be far more content and, indeed, supportive of the war had it been successful from the get-go.
Just my opinion. What do you think? |

Kind of vague. If you mean what were the motives behind the invasion, well it was a multitude of factors that led to the overthrow of Saddam's regime. What it really comes down to is Saddam was a loose cannon who just happen to have control of a very valuable resource. I think the last straw was when Saddam switched the petro currency from the dollar to the euro. I still can't figure out why he would do something like this knowing backlash he would get from the U.S. and Britain. |

No one seems concerned about it anymore... it's like everyone ignores the fact that our country is at war. It's sad...I feel bad for everyone in the Marines and Army and Air Force over there fighting on behalf of us and it's like no one even acknowledges them unless they know someone stationed overseas. |
