What about your opinion about war in Iraq?

DID IT FAILED ?

Is it over? How can you tell if something is a success or a failure until it's over. It's like assigning grades before the final exam.

Then you need to define your criteria for success and failure. Your idea may be different than say, somebody who's been in the military, somebody in the military, somebody in congress...

I agree with the first person who answered...

Waste of money, time, lives, and tears.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

Yes or no doesn't answer the question, does it?

The question you need to ask is: "Is the Iraq war the most effective way to defeat murderous Islamicists?"

And the answer is "NO!!!"

Sadam Hussein (as evil as he was) was a stabilizing element in the middle east until Bush 41 smacked him down.

I know, I know, hindsight is 20 20, and I shouldn't be armchair quarterbacking, but I deserve to because I said this even back then!

Ok, that was then, and this is now. We can't change what we did then, so let's figure out what we should do now.

Is our beef against the Iraqis? No
Is our beef against the Persians (Iran)? No
Is our beef against the Syrians? The Pakistanis? The Lebanese? The Philistines? The Egyptians? The Libyans?

No, no, no, no, no, no.

Our beef is with the Islamic murderers.

The epicenter of their religion of death is Mecca.

Crush the head, the snake dies.

When we first went into Iraq, we had a reason, and a purpose. Saddam Hussien (sp?) was a psychopathic dictator, who was killing his own people every day. As for, did we fail, no. We got rid of Saddam, we have installed a president that the people of Iraq voted for. Now, we're simply there to keep the peace. Because it would be a serious waste of time and money to bring the soldiers back. Over 2000 soldiers have died in Iraq, I can't remember the exact number off the top of my head. Yes, I feel sorry for their families and friends, but if we pull out now, they will have died for absolutely nothing.

It failed many many times over and still is failing. Fanks 4 nuffink Bush n Blair.

If a soldier has sworn to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic(inside the US), how did you just answer this question? The war: it ain't over til it's over!

It is an outstanding war. Well woth the cost and lives. Best thing to happen to the USA since Vietnam. The Iraq war will be won just like the Vietnam war. Just ask any war supporter. They will tell you the truth.

It failed, will continue to do so,and we should never have gone in to begin with. Stupid war...

It's gone far better than I ever expected. I'm especially astonished that they managed to find somebody like General Petraeus to pull the Pentagon's cojones from the fire. I expected a 20-year conflict that cost at least 10,000 American and possibly 250,000 Iraqi lives, and I still supported it. Not because I would be glad for all those people to die, but because Islamofascists cannot be allowed to get the bomb. Just one nuclear bomb in the hands of such crazed assassins could equal many millions of deaths, and since the rest of the world is too busy whimpering to do anything about it, that just leaves US.

The only way this war can fail is if we give up and let the Islamofascists blow up New York or perhaps Miami. As long as they're flocking to Iraq to get killed they aren't sneaking around Paris plotting to blow up the Eiffel Tower.

The War in Iraq is a blender war that will never result in a win or a loss. Victory, as we saw in World War II, is not the goal of the suits in Washington. If it were, they would have allowed the American military to achieve it already.

Here's a different perspective on Middle East turmoil:

Political Correctness is the Incubator of Islamism
by Amil Imani

14 Feb, 2007

Time and again we are told by the politically correct “experts” not to worry about Islam posing a threat to our way of life. We are repeatedly lectured that only a very small minority of Muslims are troublemakers who are giving the peaceful masses of Muslims a bad name. We are also informed that the terrorists, who happened to be Muslims, are the disaffected and the young. And not to worry, since as the fire of youth turns to ashes of old age the rebellious will mellow, as they always have.
With heavy assurances like this, coming from so many know-it-all authoritative figures, we can sleep soundly without the aid of sleeping pills. After all, people reason that these pundits are “experts” whose job is to know and tell it like it is. Those who voice contrary views must be a bunch of racist, alarmist hate mongers. Who is right?

Wouldn’t be more prudent to let the facts settle the matter, rather than blindly accepting either position? Of course it would, except for one huge problem. In the face of threats, people tend to go to the mind’s medicine cabinet and take a few denial and rationalization pills, in the same way that it is the aspirin bottle they turn to when a headache strikes. Why not? We are the Easy Species. We love effortless, quick and simple solutions. And that’s not invariably bad. It has given us all kinds of labor and time saving devices.

Yet, the Islam problem is very real and deadly. Neither the pronouncements of the experts, nor the tranquilizing pills of the mind can make it go away. It is here and it shows every sign of imposing itself on us.

Europe is already badly infected with Islamism. It is the coal-miners’ canary. It is telling us that the next stop is America. We must act and act now. We must not sacrifice our cherished way of life and the lives of our children at the altar of political correctness: the incubator of Islamofascism.

I think leaving would be like a blonde swimming half way across a lake, and deciding she is too tired to go all the way, so she swims back. Finish the dang job. If the Vietnam war taught us anything, it is that the United States military can only be defeated by a lack of will power.

North Vietnamese casualties-Around 1,100,000
American Casualties-Around 58,000

NO IT HAS NOT FAILED!! THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN GIVING THE ENEMY (VICTORY) FOR 4 YEARS. DID YOU KNOW THE DEMOCRAT LEADERS HAVE BEEN HELPING THE LIBERAL MEDIA IN FIGHTING AGAINST ARE MILITARY SINCE 2004, THIS IS THE REASON WE HAVE LOST SO MANY SOLDIERS, "GOD REST THEIR SOULS". DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN DOING THIS NOT ONLY TO HELP AL QEADA, BUT TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE WAR WAS GOING WRONG. DEMOCRATS HAVE SO MUCH BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS, THEY'LL DROWNED IN ALL THE BLOOD OF ARE SOLDIERS.

Of course war in Iraq failed a long time ago. What did not failed it is billions upon billions of $$$ profit from Iraquis oil and US defence industry which Bush & Co. pocketed.

Someone had to show these terrorists they can't go around blowing up people in buildings. If we didn't go, what do you think would be happening now? They may be trying to take over. They're still here & the Gov. is still finding them. I just wish it would end though, time for our boys to come home. I think now that it's just another Viet Namn (? spelling, sorry) I don't think there are any winners. There are too many losses on both sides. Innocent as well as guilty.
