The standard infantry weapons in the Irish Army are a customised Steyr AUG assault rifle, FN general-purpose and heavy machine guns, 60mm and 81 mm mortars, STRAAWs (anti-armour weapons), Carl Gustav recoilless rifles (anti-armour/fortification rifles), Javelin anti-tank missiles, M203 grenade launchers, and an Accuracy International sniper rifle. Artillery includes 105mm howitzers, 25-pounder field guns, and Bofors surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft guns. Standard ground vehicles are Mowag APCs, AML20 and AML90 armoured vehicles, Scoprion armoured recon vehicles, DROPS (basically like very large 8-wheel armoured trucks), and hundreds of general service vehicles (which are like standard 4X4 jeeps but adapted for military usage) and troop transporters. (Troops are also transported by Agusta Westland AW139 helicopters). They also use special-purpose vehicles such as Aardvark mine clearing vehicles and Dok-ing remotely-operated mine clearers

Nowadays, despite the existence of Northern Ireland, both countries are on very friendly terms.
