In all reality, the AK is a versatile weapon that can be adapted for near any mission, much the same as an M16/M4. The only problem is that it often takes special replacement parts that are harder to attach or add than it is for the M16. For example, in order to mount a scope rail to the side of the AK, you need to replace some of the internal screws and add an external side mount rail. Then, you need to attach a scope mount rail to this to give you a weaver base that floats above the receiver. Then you can finally attach whatever kind of sight you want.
Even the pistol grip, stock, and foregrip can be replaced with almost any attachment, but to do it takes more work. Replacing the buttstock on an M16 just takes a special wrench, but on an AK, it takes a dremmel, new rivets, and a rivet hammer.
The other problem is that there are no absolute standards in AK's. They each look and function roughly the same, but between various manufacturers, tolerances can differ widely. If it wasn't for the loose tolerances that the weapon already has, it would jam repeatedly from replacement parts. This means that when attaching add-ons to an AK, you may have to make some small modifications to the parts of the weapon itself to get them to fit.
Again, an AK can be customized the same as any M16. You just need to put more work into it. |

Cod4 has the least realistic modifications of any game. To fit an ACOG onto an AK, you have to *** the weaver rail, add a adapter for a picatinny rail, and screw the ACOG on. As for a silencer, the AKs 7.62 round will be a bit louder than the general "pink pink pink" sound used in COD4 for silenced weapons. My ideal AK has a PsO1 and a GP25. |
