What are the Pros and Cons of the MOS 11B Infantry?

This is coming from an enlisted member of the Air Force who is in an administrative career field. This is my opinion based on my observations serving in an Army slot when I was deployed to Afghanistan.
Pro - you get to go out and do way cool stuff
Cons - you may get PTSD from doing that cool stuff, the job itself is hard on your body and requires much physical activity so if you make a career of it you will most likely be broken at retirement, the Army doesn't really let you work exclusively in your MOS and as an 11B you may do postal or vehical repair, or anything else the Army decides it needs at the time. It's widely joked about throughout the services that it does not take much brains to be an 11B. 11B does not really provide enough training in any one area to lead to a wide availability of civillian sector jobs when you decide to get out.
This is not a jab at the 11B career field, just my opinions of what I realistically viewed while deployed. |

pro. you serve you country, suffer the crap all infantry soldiers did since the beginning of this country.

Pro- when not deployed, things are pretty chill, you get to be in the middle of the action, you get to feel like a "real" soldier, you rank up very very quickly.
Cons- you sleep in the dirt alot, you are put into dangerous situations more frequently than other jobs, you don't have a marketable skill when you get out. |
