What are the contract stipulations for a 92-day contract in the MARINE CORPS?

I capitalized MARINE CORPS becuase i'm not sure if other services have different contracts. Anyway, I am a reservist with a 92-day contract, this upcoming summer I am supposed to go to SOI however my unit is trying to send me before my finals even start, after this a corporal in my unit told me that I could not report to SOI and it would be like I was never in the CORPS, he said a higher up told him about it. I have been trying to figure this thing out, and I don't understand because if I didn't report I would be AWOL. So please if you know anything about this or need me to clarify this statement further please let me know.

If you will be AWOL I think you know the answer already. If there is a waiver or pass to allow you to not go with your unit that would have to come from your commanding officer, and the odds are slim your CO will let you out of it. You know if they let you go many others have situations that would warrant a pass too. Do for one... do for all.
The best thing about the military is there are exceptions to rules. It cannot hurt to to request a delay in leaving through proper channels.
