You must have at least a bachelors degree and get a commission in the US Marine Corps. Then, you need to get accepted to, and graduate from pilot training, then go to learn your specific aircraft type. Then you can be a Marine aviator.
You do not have to be an Annapolis (or other service academy) grad but your odds greatly increase if you are. ROTC grads and products of other commissioning sources can get aviator slots, but the odds are much less. For example, if you graduate from the US Air Force Academy and are medically qualified to fly, you are offered a pilot slot. In fact, each year, many academy grads turn down their pilot slots and those slots then get distributed to the ROTC and other commission programs. The year I graduated (2001) my graduating class gave back over 100 pilot slots. The bottom line is, the service academies get first pick. What's left over goes to the other programs. |

you DON'T need to go to the naval academy. but you DO have to be an officer. to be an officer in the Marines, you need a 4 year college degree in any major. |

If you just want to be Air Crew or whatever, you don't need to be an officer, just a high school grad. But to be a pilot, need to be an officer first.
Some of these answers are not quite right, you can enlist and get into a program (like MECEP) to eventually become an officer and pilot. So you DON'T have to go directly to Naval Academy, but it's kind of taking a long way around. |

you need to be an officer first and foremost. the rest has to do where you go to school...did you do NROTC or the Academy - do you have a pilots license - how good were your grades - were you a leader? etc...from all of that they have a point system - if you have enough points you go to flight school

You need to go to the Naval Academy(or similar School) if you want to Fly in the Marines.
Unless you're wanting to be flight crew (non-pilot) then you just need to score high in testing for recruitment. |
