As a military wife, you have my support and sympathy. How anyone could bash a soldier is beyond me, is poor judgment, and ignorant. My husband deploys all the time, and the one thing I teach my daughter about his absence is that it is never a sad thing......it's pride. I'll tell you the same....always be proud, never sad, never upset. The soldiers do what others can not, or are not willing to do. No one can take that away from them, or their families......EVER. Not with words, not with protest signs, not with dirty looks or anti war activism....not with anything.

war is never a good thing, but it is necessary. We will always have disagreements between nations, and when you are dealing on two radical different ends of the spectrum, there is no way to 'talk it out'. There are also just bad people out there who will kill on a seconds notice and not think twice about it. without war there would be no way to get them out of power in their country.

I think that they worked very hard in bad conditions and we should give the troops nothing but the best and help get settled back into the civilian pace .

I really haven't heard much bashing from actually people. The media just likes to find the one crackpot who will. Most people I know think the mission is stupid, not the people.

I support it. My twin brother is over there now. They wouldn't let me go because of that and by the time I found out I could've volunteered they were gone and I'd have to reclass to some medical MOS to go and I don't wanna go with just any other unit. They wouldn't even let me do pre-mob.

I have immense respect for your father and step father for serving their country, but I have no respect for the government that risked their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan for an Imperial agenda.

I think the wars are wrong. They were unnecessary, and they have caused a lot more harm than good.

But I believe you dad and step dad are heroes. We need a strong defense, and we need dedicated people in the military. We just didn't need them for -these- wars.

I feel the same about Vietnam vets and Korean War vets. The wars were wrong, but our soldier were heroes. (Most of them). The rightness of the war isn't up to them, it's up to our govt.

I admire and thank the soldiers no matter what i feel about the war. they are doing their jobs and are good at it. I salute them.

War, unfortunately is a necessary evil. It would be great if everyone around the world could see eye to eye and that tyrants like Saddam Hussein and kim jon... umm the guy from North Korea would stop murdering and starving their own people but as long as their is a human race people will fight, tyrants will kill and therefore war will be a part of society.

I fully support our troops in everything they do. They are the people who make it possible for other Americans to complain about WMD's or lack there of. These military personnel make it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms that we have and by far it is the best military machine in all the world.

I am deeply saddened that Americans have died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan but I also understand why we had to go fight and I salute your father and step father for their sacrifices.

You really have a great question, first of all it sounds like you're proud and rightfully so. But now I'll ans. you from a mom's point of view, my son's both went and going to college, if they were to come and said they enlisting, I think I would try to talk them out of it. I like so many other moms don't want my kid getting killed or injured. But I'm really proud of what other men do for this country, cause a prez, says go, and fight. But if it weren't for you guys fighting for us, then we wouldn't have our freedom, which we all enjoy. This makes me fell so hypocritical. Thank both of ur dads for me and my families freedom.

I support every man and woman that is or has served this country! I may not agree with everything that that has happened, but that's no reason not to support our troops. Most of the people that have responded to this question only go by what the news shows and that's all the bad! I am an Army Wife and know a lot of the good that is coming out of what has happened. I know that most people will sit back and criticize what's going on but none of them are brave enough to do half of what our troops are having to do. I want to thank your dad and step dad for their time served! They are among many heros! My husband is currently deployed to Iraq and I support him in every way and always will not matter what anyone thinks! It's a lifestyle and you have to be strong!

i think the reason for the resentment is because its never been very clear why we are over there. I'm sure most people don't actually sit down and read the bill (hjr 114) passed by congress to authorize the use of force in Iraq. i also think the media plays a huge role in it, and Bush was basically hated. their will always be people who oppose a war and their will always be wars, its a vicious circle. During WWI people were fined and jailed if they said anything negative about the war, so even though German u -boats were blowing up any and every ship they came across people were still against it. its unfortunate that people feel this way, because my husband is a marine in Iraq right now. but i am happy that i do live in a country where i can have my own opinion.

Whether it is 5 years, or 5,000 years, the results will be the same. What if Iraqi soldiers came over here and rebuilt our nation? There have been many times in American history when a nation could have rebuilt us, but they did not.
Leave Iraq, please. Enough is enough.
You are nothing more than a corporate mercenary.
Enjoy it while it lasts GI Joe. Obama is pulling you guys out of there in 18 months. Then you can join the rest of the guys heating themselves on the grates in front of the public library. And if you are lucky enough to still have a job, if you haven't gotten a pink slip already, you will be taxed up to your neck in support of Islamic fundies over here on welfare- and you get no benefits whatsoever.
I suppose you can always get a job with the mafia as a hired thug after the war is over.
