What branch of the army would be best for me?

I'm a 15 year old girl in High School right now and I have always wanted to go into the armed forces. Im really interested in biology and animals, nursing, and anything in the medical field. I have my CPR, AMD, EMT, and EMTC liscence already. I am not too fond of heights, but I can definitly get over that. I really want to be a respected and real part of the forces. I would also like to know what I ca do to train now at my age. My school sadly doesn't have a JROTC. Anoher thing, if your in the army now, what do you like about it and what has it done for you?

Go to college, get the Air Force to pay for it, do a BSN in nursing and ROTC. You'll graduate an officer and become an AF nurse. |

I would suggest the army nursing program.

hi there
firstly good choice the army can give you a awful lot of thngs
firstly self worth, respect for your self and others, a keen will to survivie any thing emotionally and physically
the british army has all sorts
medics, doctors etc etc
i am sure there are vets, dog hadlers etc etc
you just need to decide what you want to do and if this career can be continued if you ever left the army
ie make sure this career will be workable until you retire so you can always rely on this,
good luck |

Personally, I would suggest the Air Force. Generally, their training is a little lighter, and it seems to be geared towards the "brainier" people who want to join up.
I have an ex-girlfriend who works at a military hospital in Ohio in their psych department.
It seems that you would be well prepared for the mental side of your training, but I would focus on getting into better cardiovascular shape so that the running and physical training will not come as a shock to you. |

Bottom line is whatever your intrested in doing, odds are you can do it in the military. Be it medical, signal, or even law enforcement. By what you said you enjoy the medical field and there are plenty of jobs that relate to the medical field in the military, be it Army, Air Force, Marines... or yes, even the Navy.
As for training now, you need to stay focused on your school studies so you can score as high as possible on your ASVAB, the higher the score the more jobs open up to you. Also don't forget to work on your physical conditioning. You will need this in basic training, and through out your military career. You want to be in the best physical shape as you can come Basic training. Push ups, sit ups, and a 2 mile run are the areas you will be tested on through your your basic training and AIT school. |

Hm, well I recently enlisted in the Army... aviation! I was just like you when I was that age too. If you are really into that medical stuff, the medical branch might be good for you. Just know that you have options other than just "medic," such as radiology, lab specialist, etc. etc. You could also be a medic and work your way into aviation medicine if you get over the heights thing :P
Here is a website to check out if you are interested in the school of aviation medicine:
http://usasam.amedd.army.mil/index/index.htm
(i think this would be an AWESOME job!)
Anyway, there is also a veterinary technician MOS, and with a degree you can be a veterinarian.
The best thing for you to do is go ahead and talk to some recruiters and get an idea of what jobs are out there... there are ALOT! Study up on your mechanical, shop, and auto knowlege and get some study guides for the ASVAB test. Read everything you can about the jobs you are interested in.
Most important of all, realize that you are not committed to anything until you sign the dotted line, so don't make a recruiter think they can lasso you in. Also, know that you will get what you want as long as you qualify for it. Do not let them tell you that you cannot have a job that you qualify for!
Good luck! |

You may want to try the medical field. The Navy has an excellent program for corpsman.... There are even Dr.s and nurses. I am sure the Army has the same thing, talk to your local requriter and find out what they have to offer....

As a 15 year old looking to join a fraternity in the United States Military's Nursing program, I would Choose the Army. As for preparing yourself for basic training, you'll need to get as physically fit as possible, you'll need to develop upper body strength, be able to do at least 60 sit ups in 2 minutes, run 2 miles in under 15 minutes and perform atleast 60 push ups in 2 minutes.
Once you get it down pact that Basic Training in more of a mind game than anything else, then you would suceed in your endevors.
If you cop an attitude when screamed at, then guess what? that's what they are going to inflict on you. See basic training is designed to bring everyone from different walks of life to be one, on one level and to teach leadership. the rest is entirely up to you. |

Look into the Peace Corps. They have tons of opportunities for people and offer a great way to make an impact on the world using your skills. |

Join the navy. You don't want to be a bullet sponge all the time, do you? The Rate is call HM, or a corpsmen. They train with the marines. I am an air traffic controller. Its not stressful, the people you work with are! Some days I feel like opening up an abortion clinic. Anyway, you must pick a job that you can use outside the forces, just in case you don't like the branch you choose for some reason. Medic is a good job that will transfer to the civilian world. If you go enlisted, get your batcher degree, as you will have free college, and then go civilian or try to become an officer. I will be a lifer, almost at 10 years now, just 10 more till I graduate the navy and go FAA and make the big bucks!
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU MUST KNOW IS NEVER,I MEAN NEVER, TRUST YOUR RECRUITER, Always do your own research. Try to find someone to take you on a base that offers what you want and ask them what its like, they will tell you the truth because to a recruiter, your just a number. |

I would say the Air Force.
It is more technical than most.
Alot more Fields to use when you get out...
thats one thing you should look at when your choosing a field.
what will help you when you get out....
Good luck. |
