AIR FORCE! i was contemplating the same decision at your age... i went Air Force and never looked back! best decision i ever made! i figure, why do more work for the same pay? think smarter, not harder ;o) plus you'll need to take your ASVAB before you can make any decisions like that :o) |

Marines get killed very easily, join the navy. They don't do anything at all since no one fights on sea anymore, al they do is go to a coast and blast it too bits with huge guns, safest jobs ever in the military. |

The Air Force or Navy will in general provide marketable skills that go beyond your service in the military. I have not found any former enlisted marines who could provide skills that worked in our place of employment. They are really just taught to use weapons, or so it seems. From a practical perspective, Navy or Air Force. |

My pick is Coast Guard. They are an elite branch of the Military that trains folks in law enforcement as well as saving lives. If you already love the ocean, it's an easy choice. They pay the same as every other military branch. |

What do you want to get out of your time in the service? If you want to go in for one hitch, the Marines will teach you how to be an infantryman, something with little demand in the civilian job market. The other services could teach you something you can use. |

I think it doesn't matter which branch you go to because either way, you'll be serving your country-- God bless you for that. But I think the Marines is good-- my aunt is in the Marines and she loves it; maybe you will too.
Good luck with your decision. |

Look into specific jobs that each branch offers, what kind of career do you want to have when you get out, a lot of mos's can help you get a head in the civilian world. Where the duty stations are located, if that matters to you . Each Branch is really different, deployment times differ. Write down questions you have to ask the recruiter to make sure you are making the right choice for you. |

What is your GPA in High School?
If you are all brains then go for the Air Force or Coast Guard.
If you have brains and brawn go Army, Navy or Coast Guard (maybe Marines).
If your GPA isn't that great and you are tougher than Nails, Army, Navy or Marines. |

Air Force. Better bases, better opportunities. They don't deploy for years like every other branch. |

None! If I understand right it looks like you want to know what military branch will make you comfortable and soft. If you are patriotic and you got what it takes.....fine. But you're a boy......wait until you're 18. Finish your education. Get your diploma....think it over real good. America's a great nation and worthy to serve, but you think you got what it takes? Can you fight? Can you tolerate pain in the &$%# fellow servicemen? Eating lousy chow? Having a fellow soldier who shares your room in the barracks who loves to play loud radio all through the night while he sleeps and you can't? A fellow soldier who knows how to break through your locker and steals your valuables. Do KP duty? Or clean latrines and burn the feces with gasoline? And other wonderful things the military got for you? Is there glory in killing? No. Unless you're man to do it. I have killed men(VC), and believe me there is no glory in it. Vietnam was a killing field. Enough said. |

Army or Air Force I'm the same age as you and those are the ones i'm considering joining but if your american your navy is large and a lot better than the Aussie one so you could consider them as well i always wanted to serve on an air craft carrier problem my country doesn't have one oh well good luck |

it depends what you want. i'm 17 and i enlisted in the Marines because i want to be the best and i want a challenge. if you're thinking military for the money then join the army or navy because they have the big bonuses. do your research. are you a physical person? or do you like to use your head more? it all depends on what you want to do. |

If you are thinking Marines, give them a shot. You will always wonder what you missed otherwise.
I wonder what I missed, dont make that mistake. |

i'm not a military man but if you really want to get into the marines and you meet all the physical requirements (if there are any), i would suggest you start working out (if you havn't already) so that when you arive in basic your body is already a bit prepared. |
|

dayyumm ;D

i wouldn't do that if i was you. it would stress a lot of people that care for you. sure, you get tons of privilages, but is it really worth risking your life? |
