fun stuff!
I went to toys r us and bought my buddy a bunch a stuff.. he loved it! In particular... I bought him beach type toys like frisbees and stuff... I also bought three remote control cars and various out door games. It made him a hero with the guys in his troop. Oh yeah, and don't forget to throw in some snacks... nuts are great... and so are those little packets of crystal light that you mix with a bottle of water. Oh yeah... and something he specifically asked me for was WET ONES! I know it sounds strange... but baby wipes are a God send when you're in the desert! I hope this helps... and tell your "guy friend" that I said thanks for serving!! |

OK you take a couple of 20 ounce bottles of pop empty 1/2 of it than fill it with liquor of the same color (Bacardi+7up got the idea) than glue the cap (hot glue or supper glue) on try and make it look like it wasn't opened and leave the wrapper on now mail it WITH OUT A RETURN ADDRESS AND FOR HIS SAKE NO LETTERS (so he can always say i don't know where or who it came from) toss in a cheap magazine (not one from your hometowns name on it) and a Twinkies, ding dong and/or a ho hos and =) there you go it worked for me. |

Sometimes a simple letter from home to see how he is doing and letting him know you are praying for his safety is the best thing you can give. |

As a military wife whose husband just recently returned, junk food was always a thing that he requested. Magazines and pictures are also good to send. |

Usually its the little things that matter most. All those things we take for granted and can get so easy, well they just don't have them over there.
It's good to have some games to play but snacks are something that runs out real fast as are any consumable. Once he's got the frisbee, radio, cards, those things will last a while. Candy, gum, latest news from home, new pictures (winter scenes, parties, etc.) those will be greatly appreciated. |

Snack foods. There was a lot of excitement over Girl Scout Cookies. Cigarettes (like cash), Kool-Aide singles to put in their nasty water, Diaper wipes, cards to send home, If you're from a small town, copies of your newspaper; all kinds of other things.
If you go to anysoldier.com, you can get lots of ides of things to send, a list of things you CAN'T send, and how to package. The best advice I got was to package food stuff separately from soap stuff. The food, no matter how well it is packaged, will taste like what you mailed it with.
Also, you will save money if you mail the package in the USPS flat-rate box. |

One thing that I sent my friend when he was in Kosovo was hard candy, it gives you a little moisture in your mouth when it is dry out there. Just your cards and support are great also.
Get some people together from church or your work and do a card multi-mailing will bring up their spirits also. |

Pictures and letters are the best things you can send. That gives motivations...he knows what he is missing and really wants to stay alive to get back. And breaks the monotony of the war. |

When my cousin was stationed in Iraq, my family would send her care packages with her favorite snacks that she of course couldn't get in Iraq. We also put basic things in the box like toiletries and socks. Also put letters and pictures of family and friends in there to let him know that everyone back home misses him. Also if you know any of the people that he's stationed with, you might want to include something in there for them as well, because everyone over there doesn't have alot of family support, and thats what the troops really need. |
