What can i send with my boyfriend to basic training?
|
he'll be leaving for National guard basic training on May 20th for 17 weeks. i was hoping to give him a few small things to take for when he leaves (a phone card and a book-i'll explain in a bit). and i was also wondering what i can send when hes already over there. my friend recommends just letters, not packages.
aside from sending him things, im trying to figure out things to do to motivate him and show him my support before he goes. so i have a list of a few movies to watch that have basic training scenarios. the book i was looking at is called "ultimate basic training guidebook". the reviews seem good and i was wondering if any of you have gone through basic training and if you read anything to get you ready for it.
i know, a lot of questions, but im trying to squeeze everything in before hes gone. any other ideas of what to send?
thanks!

Don't send anything it will be taken away. A phone card is a good idea unless he takes his cell.
You can send a few pictures and once in a while you might cut out a funny joke from the paper to tape inside a card.
The book may or may not be a good idea sometimes it is better to go in stuff blind sided instead of expecting something to happen that may not.
Just spend lots of time with him before he goes and cook him some nice dinners.
Remain positive and supportive and always tell him you love him. That will help keep his motivation up. |

DO NOT SEND ANYTHING TO BASIC TRAINING!!!! HE WILL GET DISCOMFORT FROM IT BECAUSE THE DRILL SERGEANTS LOOK AT IT FIRST. Save him the discomfort. Send him something AFTER BCT |

Everyone has it right on here. Don't send him anything. They will take it all from him anyway. Letters are ok later on while he is there. No perfume on the letter either... |

I would just send letters with nothing "cute" written where the T.I. can see it. They like to embarrass the people with the love letters. |

Don't send the book, but the phone card would be awesome. Packages, not recommended, but if you so desire, only include stuff he's issued. For example: Soap, deodorant etc.
Letters are great.
And if you REALLY feel like embarrassing him, send lipstick. It will be taken away, but it'll be a good laugh. (Happened to a guy in my unit) |

Dont't send anything with him, besides phone card and small adress book. Everything else will be shipped back to you and he will get bull form the drill seargent. Also while he is there you can't send him packages only letters, as for the book I would not send that either because you are not aloud to have any reading material unless it directly has to do with the National Guard. Good luck! He'll be back beofore you know it! |

I had a friend who served in the Marines in Iraq for a couple years. He really liked hot sauces, that pouring enough of it on their meals made them almost taste like food. |

Don't send him anything! The only thing you can do is write him letters and that's it. I know Marine boot camp recruits arent allowed to bring anything with them other than their i.d, ssi card or birth certificate..etc stuff like that and maybe $20. |
