To be more specific, i'm talking about toiletry items such as soaps and stuff, and for females tampons and things...
Can you take them or do u buy them from the PX when you get there?

When you're getting ready to leave for basic, you'll receive a list of items that are mandatory and items that are optional. You can buy all of these items in larger quantities at the PX after you arrive, but be sure to bring enough for about three days first.
MANDATORY:
Laundry Soap
Ball-point pen
Shampoo
Deodorant
Toothbrush
Toothbrush Tray (some kind of holder for your brush)
Toothpaste or Powder
Notebook and Paper
Black Shoe Polish (Kiwi's Parade Gloss is the best if you can find it)
Shine brush/cloth
Shower Shoes (rubber-soled non-faddish in style)
Soap (body wash is the best)
Soap Tray if bar soap is used
Civilian Eyeglasses
Contact Lenses/ Case
MALE SPECIFIC
Shaving Equipment
Shaving cream or Electric pre-shave lotion
FEMALE SPECIFIC
Sanitary Napkins/Tampons (1 package)

You should bring enough civilian clothes to last about 3 days. If you wear contacts, bring your glasses. The training environment is not conducive to contact lens wear.

I took exactly what was on the list provided, and was only allowed a toothbrush, just like in the movies. You will be issued anything you need (then promptly charged for them). |

you'll need a gameboy or psp, for sure. there will be some awful boring times in the barracks late at night. be sure to shout as much as possible, they like that in basic.
what else, what else.... oh, let's see: you should definitely find the biggest pair of pants you can, and just let them drape off of you. try to grow a decent beard before you go, it will be the last opportunity for at least a month or two. |
