i think religion causes alot of violence but war is caused by politics. if you mix both of them there would be alot of war |

Historically mostly religion but many religious wars are also political. Modern history more political then religious; overall probably about even. the longest though have always been religious and if you look at the percent of population killed they are bloodier-the political one end faster because less hate and fanatical. |

Religion. At least, the bloodier ones.
When one fights a religious war, they think that when they die, they will achieve some higher spiritual plane because their deity said that. They have no reason to live; they can die and be happy, or live and be happy (as long as the other guy died). One can also do near anything and think that it is good, because they are fighting for their deity.
Now, with a political war, one is trying to survive against their enemy. If they die, then what they are fighting for could die out, which would make their life and death moot. Not a good thought. A fighter for a political reason also realizes that the masses do not appreciate things that are not palatable. So, they tend to fight 'cleaner.'
If we take a past political war and see what would happen if religion were applied...
Cold War. Pretty extreme.
If both sides thought that by destroying the enemy that everyone would be assured salvation, what is there to stop them from pushing the button? Heck, both sides would have salvation from destroying each other. Win-Win.
But, since it was a political war, both sides wanted to survive, because if they didn't, then who would carry on the politics they were fighting for? So, they tried to see if they could weaken their enemy enough so they could get out on top. Eventually, one fell, but the other decided that nuking them would be bad in the world's public view, and thus, did not kill them. |

depends on the socioeconomic situation in the area at the time. people cling tighter to religion and less to politics during tough times.
and in places with high standard of living at the time have no reason to attack people other than politics. |
