I'll tell you what I got as an Army Reservist:
- More confidence
- Excellent life experience
- A slew of new mates
- Something that looks "mad as" on my resume
- The most fun job. Ever.
- A mildly cynical outlook on life
- Money for drinks, gas and schoolbooks
If you're considering joining for any type of financial benefit, perhaps you ought to reconsider. But otherwise, it's an awesome gig to fix yourself up with |

Self respect,pride,discipline for starters.
Free medical,dental.get 3 to 4 meals a day,30 days paid vacation/yr.,free mail order correspondence education courses that count towards college credits,money set aside for a college education after you are discharged from active duty,and you can join the guard or reserve if you want and still get paid.
If you should decide to put in 20 yrs.or so,you can retire and still be young enough to work a regular civilian job and start a second retirement fund before you turn 60. |

There are a lot of positive things you can gain from joining the Army, as has been suggested by others here. The one thing you do have to think about seriously, though, is the possibility that you might get killed or maimed for life if you're sent into a combat zone. The wonderful TV commercials about the military never mention this part of the deal, but it's something worth thinking about. |

Serving in the army involves hardship, sacrifice, and possible risk to health and life. Your freedom is reduced and you're a cog in the wheel of something bigger than yourself - following orders which you may not ultimately agree with.
On the upside - it will build your health and fitness. Provide some education (especially useful if you're not already well educated), possibly enable you to learn a trade and so on.

confidance, strength, being more outgoing, discipline and the best one: the ability to kick someones butt real good no but seriously just know if you get deployed into iraq you could die i know your loved ones wouldn't want you to die just weigh the pros and cons and decide for yourself |
