What country has the world's strongest military?

The question was not the "largest"... the asker's question was "strongest".

By this I can only assume they mean "most devastating in its capability" or "most effective when engaged" and that they do not mean "the military that can lift the most weight".

Answer: The United States of America has the 'strongest' military. Here's why:
- Firepower: The U.S. possseses and controls the largest amount of destructive explosives on the planet. Bullets, dynamite, gunpowder, C-4, fuel bombs, napalm and nuclear, just to name a few types.
- Weapons delivery: The U.S. has the most accurate, well maintained, highe-tech, widely deployed and well-run firepower delivery system on Earth. Gun barrel accuracy, naval, air, land delivery systems - all highly maintained to very stringent standards.
- Intelligence: Despite all the joke we could make about this word and the military, the fact remains that no country has the technical and human intelligence and intelligence processing capabilities as the U.S. The NSA alone has a budget bigger than India's gross national product in 2004. Satellites, command and control, phone, internet, private internets, video communications, data encrpyion, data de-cryption, diversified Human spy assets, global corporate data, data mining, etc., etc., etc.
- Money: no military in the world is as well funded, consistently well funded, as the U.S. Military is.

The US, without question. Russia's military is suffereing from years of neglect and a very small budget. China is struggling to built its military, but still has a long way to go to catch up.

Easy question, the United States of America has the best military in the world. Russia would be 2nd. China is now 3rd, Great Britian is 4th, North Korea is 5th.

It depends on what you mean by strongest. In military terms, strength refers to number. Therefore, China has the army with the largest strength. If its military capability, the US.

Right now China has the LARGEST military. Some would argue that the US has the strongest military. Personally I consider ISRAEL to have the STRONGEST military. EVERY citizen of Israel MUST join the army for the minimum 2 years and they ALL consider it an HONOR. I call them the strongest simply because since Israel was FOUNDED they have had to deal with military threats from EVERYONE. I wont even deal with their "special forces". Those guys are HARDCORE.

The United States. China has sheer numbers, but their navy is crap compared to the US Navy. Doesn't matter how many they have with the Pacific between us. The USA also dominates the air. The US also has the most nuclear weapons.

As a former service member (US NAVY) and current follower as a pundit for the promulgation of defense, I would say that the United States of America has the strongest, best trained, highest morale, best pay and ALL volunteer military in the world. Other countries can try to outnumber us, but with our technology and non-conscripted services, it's a sure bet that America can kick *** anywhere, anytime.

Depends on what you mean by strongest. Do you mean by the number of men & tanks? Or if put into a head to head fight on neutral ground, which military right now would come out on top? Perhaps you mean by the most professional army, or most rounded. Another defination is by technology, as well as NBC capabilities (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical).

By # of men, China takes the top spot at over 1.4 million front line troops. The US compares with 220 thousand.

If you mean by head to head with conventional weapons only, I believe that it would it up between China and the US, of which China would win, because as the old saying goes "Quantity is a quality all its own".

By most professional, that honor goes to Britian. The British are the most professional soldiers far & away of all armies in the world.

Technology, the US wins hands down. We field stealth & night fighting technology, instant communications & field status updates, and a host of other technologies that other nations cannot comprehend, much less compare with.

In the NBC catagory, I would say it comes down to a tie between the US and Russia due to the extrodinary levels of ICBM's that are kept active.

I would like US to support israel with all it's military capability against their enemies iran and other Arab nations. The west should not keep queit and allow iran to build it's nuclear weapons, because the iranian regime is against christianity.

Why is NATO still waisting their time with those heartles libyan armies. I believe one week is too much for NATO to destroy libyan army and the vampire called Gadaffi. If NATO cannot destroy pro Gadaffi forces in a month, i will recommend UN to seek the assistant of Israeli forces. I strongly believe that israeli forces can destroy libyan army within two weeks.
