What do I expect as a Navy Girlfriend?

While he's in boot camp write him as much as you can it'll help get him through it and show him you care.He may get to call a few times from boot camp too. Be at the graduation if you can. After boot camp he goes to a-school. A- school isn't really hard, my husband use to call me daily while he was there ( we were just dating at the time).Then he gets his base and depending on what his on their schedule varies. But once he's based he'll be able to talk to you whenever, come home on leave, or you could possibly go visit. The distance and everything the navy put us through brought us closer together, and it sounds like you've already dealt with a lot you guys should be fine. I wish you the best of luck the life really isn't as bad as some people make it!

I would get married if you are ready. Most g/f's and b/f's don't work out when a guy joins the Navy. Trust me I know.

Well it depends. Basic training will be pretty much letters with a phone call or two. Do not send any gifts that make it appear to be contraband, my girlfriend did that and got me in trouble and they kept it anyway. When he gets to school after boot camp he will have more freedom to write, call, and maybe even visit. Then depending on his rate (job) and what the duty he requests (or gets) will determine the rest. Most ships go out for 6 months. Very few not so much. Being away from him the whole time will pretty much make the entire relationship long distance. If you decide to move in with him then there are groups for spouses and what not to support one another while he is out on deployment.

Well when he graduates boot camp, make sure youre there! And when he gives you his mailing address for boot camp, write him as much as possible cause they love mail call, and you can even send him a few pictures if you want but make sure they won't get him in trouble cause they're not allowed that stuff at boot. Communication is so important in a military relationship, just get in touch with him as much as you can when hes in A school, after boot. My brother graduated Marine boot camp in August 2008 and it was tough without him cause we are so close and what not, but everytime i got a letter it made my day. And now my boyfriend is at Air Force basic and he left Jan 5th and graduates March 6th, just days away! Everytime i get a letter from him it's just so awesome to be able to hear from him and what not, and i just got a phone call from him on Monday, which the feeling is un explainable. If your boyfriend is lucky, he may ge to make a few phone calls =) Time flies soo fast when it comes down to boot camp/basic. Webcam will help a lot. it's gunna be tough but hang in there.
