War is atrocious, everyone who is human can see that. We have been in Iraq for how long now, and I fail to see that we have made any progress. I have talked to several people who have been over there, and they seem to have the same mixed feelings as the rest of us at home. Some say that the media doesn't show all the good that has been done over there, such as places that never had the opportunity for it before having electricity and running water. Others say that it is very boring, and they "get used" to the sound of bombs going off. I have nothing but respect for our soldiers overseas, but I strongly believe Bush has handled the situation wrong from the very beginning. Let us not forget, Iraq did not bomb us, the Alcaida did, and yet, we ended up in a war with Iraq. Does this not seem illogical to anyone else? Why can we start a full-scale invasion of a country that we do not even have PROOF of having weapons of mass destruction, but when North Korea amittedly has the technology, Bush decides to handle it "diplomatically"? People do not seem to care enough to pay attention to such issues, which is really a pity, because even though it may seem overwhelming, we are all being affected, in one way or another, by the tedious war in Iraq, a country in an area of the world where there will never be peace, simply because of its history as a religious land where they have not, in over a thousand years, developed the common sense to see that religion CANNOT exist as part of the government. Sorry, got a little long-winded there, but you did ask for an opinion. |

It's pointless now... I have no idea why we were there in the first place.
Is OBL there? Nope
Did they find WMD's there? Nope
What other excuses can Bush come up with? O well..I don't know how he became president for a 2nd term either. |

3 years ago GWB declared victory in Iraq. for the last 3 years we've coddled them, if they don't love freedom enough to have taken control of their own destiny by now then let them go back to what they had. It won't mean that we failed, it means that they didn't want what we offered them. What it could also mean that we should never have gone there in the first place. Besides, the sooner we leave Iraq the sooner we can get back to the war on terrorism. |

The US has committed a giant mistake. We are not winning anything in Iraq. We are however busting our own reputation into tattered broken promises, for not sticking up for human rights, national sovereignty, international laws and treaties about conduct toward prisoners and war prisoners. We have condoned rendition, which is torture with a wink and nod. We have killed prisoners during our inhuman interrogation processes, dozens.
The fact of the matter is, the United States under GWB has acted as a outlaw nation. We attacked Iraq without the backing of the World Community and against the wishes and advise of most of our Allies.
It is all just a terrible idea thinking that America is so pure it does not matter if we conduct ourselves as outlaws. Arrogance is not something that others admire or follow. WW11 proved the principle and standards of warfare, and we of all people broke the laws that we established along with our Allies in this matter.
Amazing and tragic for America. |

Hey Greenolivia -
You're right...war hasn't really been a solution to anything...other than stopping slavery, communism, fascism, and nazism, ..
Idiot. |

War is never a solution. No one has the right the judge the liviing and the dead. We are not executioners of life, but propagators.. that's why human beings only had organs for multiplication and no part of our body was made to end another man's life at one strike (before human combat / kung fu was invented)
It's not USA vs Iraq. its USA vs the world. Waging war against raq has tainted the real intention of US fo other contries. |

I think it is a good thing we learned how widespread the radical cells are and hope we can put an end to them before they grow and coordinate something world-wide. Yes, I think war is stupid -- people cutting off their noses to spite their face -- but the radicals don't see it that way. They just want us dead unless we convert to their version of Islam. Do you want to wear a burka? |

Send our troops home!! This war is pointless...We aren't fighting over land...what do we get out of this war....? NOTHING, that's what. We are killing our own people because we want them to run their country our way which is so selfish! Amen to that. |

i do not like war.. i think enough lives have been lost.. i do not know why they still have troops over there...i wander if bush would go hisself...i would not ask anyone to do what i would not do myself... |

I think there is a hidden agenda that brought us there. There are far worse enemies in the world that have far more capability to attack us than Iraq had. |

i think this war is a revenge war bush is finishing what his daddy started years ago you see there were threats but none were carried out until he was elected.when this war is over this country may be just as poor as the rest of the countries that are struggling at this time i also believe we are not being told everything we need to know about this war, we see and hear what they want us to. i believe bush was the worst mistake the U.S. ever made but that is just my opinion. osama was wrong for 9/11 as well but don't start a full out war for revenge. |

War is ugly. Only sick individuals would enjoy such destruction. Only when all other means have been exhausted, war is necessary for the overall safety of the human race and to bring peace on a global scale.
I think we will have decades of conflict in Iraq and from its neighbors. We have to reprogram a society that has been at war for generations. Naturally its going to take generations to bring peace and understanding in the region.
Just like the USA and its slave trade. It took many generations and some bloodshed for people to change their views. |
