If you're on active duty/ active call, you're going to be doing a lot of training. Also, in the military, you also have specific jobs. You AVSAB score would determine which jobs you could apply for. The Army strives for people to do better then what they already have done, therefore, they're restless.
If you're considering joining the army, or any branch in the military, have a career plan. You may get it, you might not. But, mind as well do something that you like while serving your country. |

The military has two basic jobs:
1. Fight and win the nations wars
2. Train to fight and win those wars
If your not involved with one you're doing another. Supporting tasks are maintenance and recruiting because without those you can't do 1 or 2. |

I used to fill my day by Marching up and down and saluting.
Seriously though, day to day maintenance of equipment, trucks, tanks etc takes a lot of manpower, also there is compulsory training every soldier need to complete every year like first aid, NBC (Nuclear Biological and Chemical) Warfare training, Personal weapons tests, fitness tests, adventure training, exercises, trade courses, promotion courses, leave...
this is all on top of pre deployment training and a 6 month tour abroad.
