i'm just curious, is it good food? Or like your old school cafeteria food

Not sure about the DFAC now but it used to be like cafeteria food. Pretty much bland and the menu repeats itself quickly.
Of course I rather eat in the DFAC than a MRE. |

The defac serves decent food and in basic you couldn't possibly have enough of it. It's cheap decent food but a lot like cafeteria food |

Unless you are out in the field, food is pretty good. They operate a short order line - hamburgers, pizza, french fries, subs, salads etc;; and also a full course line. |

some bases have great food, most take great pride in their menu, Meridian MS, Naval base would serve lobster,
steak fish chicken, salad bar, desert, breakfast, lunch.

Depends on what service. Army food is notoriously horrendous and very bland. I would rather have eaten MREs. They serve some form of chicken at every damn meal. I hate chicken now.
Air Force and Navy mess facilities tend to be much better in both quality and selection. |

The Navy and Airforce tend to have exceptionaly good food in their mess halls. The Army and Marines are coming along. It is actually pretty good food. The days of gross slop being served in military chow halls is over. Anyone who complains about the quality of todays food in the military is just plain picky. |
