What do you do with your bag on your flight to Basic Training?

I will be leaving for USAF Basic Training May 26th..I know what to bring and all that. I have a small bag that I'm taking with me but my question is, Can I check my bag or do they make you take it as a carry on? Reason I ask is b/c on our packing list they advise you to bring liquid soap, shampoo,etc...well you can't take that on a carry on bag...So I was hoping that someone who has recently gone to basic and could answer this question. I mean its not a big deal if I have to carry it on, just would like to be informed before I go so I can go ahead and leave the tolietries out.

You'll fly to San Antonio on a commercial flight. You cannot carry much in the way of liquids on board with the 3 oz limit so just check your bag as you normally would. Double bag any liquids in zip lock bags to prevent damage from any leaks. |

you can check it they wont start yelling at you until you check in at the AF area and that is after you leave the terminal so make sure you stop at the food court and get one last fat meal |

I wouldn't bring a bag. Just the clothes on your back, a bible, and your wallet with a few bucks in cash for phone calls. Because everything you need, they will issue you, and then charge you for it.
