What do you think about joining the military?

I hate to inform you that with the current state of things, reservist don't get to stay home and only practice war on the weekends. You will be trained, you will be deployed, period. This is especially true in the Marines where everyone is a rifleman first. Point blank, if you sign up you will be going to Iraq or Afghanistan, no if ands or buts about it.

If you aren't prepared for that, prepared to put your life on hold for a few more years, than don't join up. I recommend that you make a decision over the summer.

Do you want to be a Marine full time or do you want to finish school? It will be nearly impossible to do both at this point. I repeat, you will be deployed.

By the way, you say you're tired of school and want to be a Marine, but then you followed up by stating that you want to be a reservist and finish school. Kid, this isn't the boy scouts. You sign that paper and the corp owns you for 8 years...yes 8 years. It's in fine print.

I think you sound just about right for joining.

I think you'd enjoy it.

I see no reason why it would be unrealistic.

But personally I'm more of an all or nothing person.. I wouldn't do the reserves. I'd do active duty.

Dont listen to the first 2 people that said dont do it....Like the other person said, it all comes down to what you want to do! Let me tell you this too...it's fine with you asking questions about the military and getting opinions on your brainstorming, but you're going to get all different types of answers with that question. Like myself, I just enlisted into the Army as Infantry, and when I asked around for advice about what I should do and this n that...I begun to realize it's all what I want. That stupid advice I got from others....didnt even help me at all! It pissed me off quit a bit actually...because a lot of people out there are so ******* negative about the military! But at least, if you enlist; and if you dont like it...at least you know you tried it. Who know's...it just might be for you! Its a life you have to live to experience it yourself. So like I said in the beging...do it for yourself and dont listen to no one if their negative about joining. That shows you how much of a ***** they are....and i want to be a police officer as well...in the future. I already talked with 4-5 police recuriters, here in MN, and they all said military personnal is highly respected and you recieve military points during the interview process....good luck. If you go Army go infantry baby :) I would rather be on the battle field than being a paper pusher...good luck man. And to all of you who are against the United States Military....guess what....take your thoughts and stick up your ***..your luckly they didnt envade the united states. If you dont like the goverment here....move to europe or somewhere besides living here in North America....

Be aware that as a reservist, you will get paid very little when not activated. Also be sure that your school is flexible, as you may be called upon to deploy to a combat situation mid-semester.

if that were unrealistic, then there would be no reserve marines. you aren't the first ,and god willing, you won't be the last

At the end of the day it comes down to what you really want to do. However if you want to be a police officer it would b easier to get a job if you have served in the military. Alot of agencies look for military experience

The quickest way to get to the war is to enlist in the military.
