What do you think of McChord AFB on-base housing?

Does anyone know much about living on base here? Is there a long waiting list, are the homes nice,pet friendly? How many bed/baths, backyards? Do they charge full BAH? Utilities included or not? Deposits?
I know Ill need to call eventually, but Im just trying to find out casually for now. Their site is pretty brief on details.

I live on McChord..and I think the housing is spectacular...it's the Air Force their stuff is always nicer. My husband is actually in the Army but Lewis was full so here we are. We have a back yard......it's pretty large...two bedrooms one is MASSIVE.....and just one bath. We have a cat and a dog..you are normally only allowed to have 2 animals on base housing..if you want a third you have to pay 250 dollars more for the extra animals..fish and stuff like that don't count. We get housing allowance..which goes straight to housing..we never see it...and we pay nothing....no garbage....electric...water....heat..tha... normally how it is on base. I think our deposit was 500 or 600 ....but usually it comes out of BAH....our set up was all messed up. don't think there is a long waiting list there are three empty houses near us.....two people just moved out and no one has moved in yet...and other questions feel free to ask..I've only been here for 5 months..but I can figure it out. |
