HA HA, There are plenta of wannabe vets. Take a close look at the posters here on Y/A that claim to be vets. Pay attention to their answers and you should be able to spot a large percentage of them. |

It's possible that they could have been separated from the military. There are a lot of people that have only served one year for one reason or another. Usually this has to do with discharges or Courts Marshal.
As for someone who lies about being in the military, that is extremely low. I have no respect for someone who would lie about such a thing. |

Liston to the talk,,you can tell if he is lying by hearing a lot bull...if you been there it's easy..I have heard guys bragging, knew they weren't there..If you have to brag ,it's a good indication ...Or they spent a lot of time as Kitchen Police these are pathetic individuals, ignore them they will disappear ,always do |

The person might have lied to get in & then was discharged once the truth was found out. The person might have also been injured & then medically discharged. |

i recently saw multiple stories on this in the news. guys pretend to be in the military & even buy the otherwise well-earned patches off of the internet. surprisingly, they're easy to get but that's beside the point.
i think it's really sad to pretend to be something you're not. you're not only lying to others, you're lying to yourself. in a way, it's kind of like you're mocking the whole idea of the military & the many men and women that have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice their lives for us; including the person that's pretending to be part of the military!
i suggest taking a good look at yourself & realizing who you are not who you "want to be."
but that's just me :) |

Perhaps he was medically discharged after serving for 1 year in the Corps!
or is he running off at the mouth and what he's saying doesn't add up?! |

If your hero served, they should be able to produce a DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty). ALL veterans get a copy when we leave the service. It's the only definitive document that proves that you served. |

It's possible this individual was a reservist who went through boot camp and AIT. This is usually a six month gig, and it could have spanned parts of two calendar years. |

What if he served for two years..I know they had two year contracts back then..1976 and 1977.. |

I think they are the scum of the earth. If you want to read about MORE scum, go to your local library and check out STOLEN VALOR by Bob Burkett.

Never the less it is a disgrace to people such as myself. I have served 13+ years and still serving. I have done multiple tours in Iraq and other countries and when someone lies because they didn't have the balls to do it, I wish they would be shipped to Iraq and stand next to someone that did. So what do I think they are, nothing and will always be nothing. |

Have you seen Mike Hawk?

I think it is pathetic. Look at Bush.....he can say that he was in the Military, but did he really fulfill his oath after he signed up? No, he went AWOL and disappeared, just like the evidence that he did serve. If I were to hear him bragging about his time in the military, it would be laughable. |
