What do you think the REAL reason is we went to war in Iraq?

a) Because, having been attacked on our own soil, we really did not want that to happen again. So, we picked someone who we already knew we could beat (Saddam), in an area of the world guaranteed to tick off our enemies (Iraq, holy sites all over), with the added benefit of there being a brutal dictator in charge so we could tout how freedom loving we were. Now that we've invaded it, the terrorists are blowing up either (1)trained military troops, whose job it is to die for our country (as opposed to children flying to a school field trip), or (2)other Muslims, thereby sowing hatred and discontent between people who will find it easier to kill each other than Americans.

b)Having lost his mind, Saddam decided to thumb his nose at the world community, saying the UN had no power over him, thereby giving us the pretense to invade. We really DID believe, at least some of our leaders, that there was the thread of WMD, so it was a nice reason as well. WMD was the 'slavery in the Civil War' issue, to get support for the war.

c)A HUGE portion of the US military is now dead-center in the middle east. It's called Projection of Power. The most dangerous potential enemies are there...look at Iran's nuclear ambition. It would take a matter of weeks to be in Tehran.

d)Oil...if we need it. We're paying way more for gas than we ever have in the US. This war was not about the oil of the current day...but about oil in the future. At very least, we can leave people in power that will be more friendly to us than have been in the past.

Wars are about power and resources. That's what this one was about, but it was more about power than resources. This was the US projecting its power in order for another 9/11 to not occur (on US soil...if Arabs fly planes into the Grand Mosque of Sandy Suffering, that's okay.)

When a country invests Billions in developing weapons.
You need somewhere to do the trials, and see if the weapons work.
Now you cant have the trials in the country of Origin. Because if anything goes wrong there would be hell to pay. Especially if you damage someones swimming pool. with a stray mortar or tank round. so you find a good, out of the way country preferably one with a lot of sand. Then you do all the testing you want. There you go no mention of... Oil.Halliburton. Imperialism. Damn i mentioned them after all.

Because, since the first war under Bush 1, Iraq had been merely under a cease fire with specific terms. They repeatedly violated the terms. The U.N. agreed that they violated the terms over and over yet refused to do anything about it. On top of that, Saddam refused to provide documentation of his disposal of WMD's (mainly because he didn't want to appear weak to his neighboring countries) so we had to act on the best information we had at the time. Both parties (Rep and Dem) agreed that something had to be done. Clinton actually had plans for invading Iraq. Bush just happened to be the sitting president when we went in and has taken the heat from a predominantly liberal press and Hollywood crowd.

Because Sadam Hussain is another Hitler! It is so hard to believe that people think this war is over oil! Do people realize how many innocent people Sadam Hussain has killed? When you let people like him continue to run a country out of fear the way he ran Iraq, It will at some point in time hurt America and every other peaceful country. Whatever people feel about President Bush is fine. I mean that is a great thing about America, you can dislike our leader and not be scared to dislike him, but to say that this man put our Military troops lives on the line for oil is just ridiculous! If there was no September 11, then we wouldn't be a war right now!

I think that the president wanted to get back at Sadam Hussain and that he wanted to try and make peace there in the middle estern part of the world not only that i also think that it was a way to make a point that no one comes here to the us and does acts of terrorist

if one were able to DECREASE Iraq's oil production, the demand & price would increase. As most of this administration is either former OIL or DEFENSE executives, I'm sure they have campaign/election debts/favors to repay.
USA already has enough oil for the important (rich)people. Oil companies are going to try to make as much money as possible before oil is gone. Then these companies will have alternative fuels to fall back on.
Also, the "war on terror" is a diversion so the resistance in America can be safely eliminated w/no questions asked.
I'm serious. THINK about it. Read "1984" & "This Perfect Day". Just look at all the rule changes with the patriot act. Wasn't it PERMANENTLY renewed last year/early this year? A bill that makes sweeping changes to the CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS of Americans, and we didn't get to VOTE ON IT.
I never heard any specifics from the mainstream media about it they just glossed over it "it's called PATRIOT ACT, must be a good thing, besides still I'm scared from 9/11. Better give up my rights so Big Brother will keep me safe." This thing allows them to do what ever they want to you LEGALLY. Before most of the searches & stuff weren't legal without a warrant.
