What do you think will happen if China has a war with USA?

We have never had a war of foreign aggression on US soil, at least since 1812. We have always worried about being invaded but we are isolated from the rest of the world by two great oceans, making a real invasion very difficult. Yes, China has a lot more people than we do, but how are they going to get them over here, plus all the supplies they'd need?

And anyway, as Iamct has pointed out, China doesn't -have- to invade us. All they have to do is stop lending us more and more money, and our economy will collapse like a house of cards. What purpose is served by them invading the US? It would only result in much of the US being destroyed, and also much of China.

As for WMD, the US has more WMD than any country in the world. Nuclear weapons are really the only effective WMD, and we have tens of thousands of them, enough to kill everyone in the world 20 times. That alone is enough to keep anyone from invading us. Since WWII, since our invention of nuclear weapons, WE have been the invaders. No nation has ever aggressed against us, only terrorists.

Although China would give us a good fight in th early stages of a war, they would fatigue too early because the General Tso's Chicken they ate for lunch has given them the sh*ts!

They would lose to the US with their pants down and sitting on the bowl.

Who exactly would China trade with to support this new war?

China's navy is non-existent thereby trade routes and sea lanes for trade are closed.

China uses modified Russian equipment, however they cant modify it to higher standards than that of the Russians and we have already seen what happened with Russian equipment vs. US equipment.

China has a huge army that part is true, how are they supposed to feed, equip, train, move, employ, deploy this huge army when they are bankrupt, cannot trade, have no command and control (1st thing US air power would hit), and no real way to take on a country like the US?

Simple people look at numbers I guess....

In actuality it would be the equivalent of suicide for China because it would be a straight up conventional war which is EXACTLY the type of operation the US military is designed for.

We will blockade their trade ( They only produce 33% of their domestic needs they must trade for everything else)

And hit them with air strikes, and ICBMs (non- nuclear)

Then we will wait for their government to collapse.

In war, you play as unfair as you can to win- you don't play to their strengths, a ground war in Asia would be madness- when in a few additional years of hostilities you can make them collapse without the need for ground involvement.

If it happened today? China is toast.

If China spends the next three decades developing their industrial capacity and economy AND develops a good Naval capacity -- the outcome is unclear.

The US Military is playing risky games -- like sticking with 1950s design Artillery and Bombers and 1970s fighters -- for the foreseeable future. Just because we currently have the best weapons systems, that will not always be true.

Compound that with a very high likelihood that the US will have a Democrat president from 2009-2016. Our military is going to be badly neglected for the next 8 years.

Given a few decades of R&D and a few (more) decades of neglect on the part of the US, an economically powerful China could field a better Air Force, and equal Navy (at least in the Pacific). Their land forces can vastly outnumber the US, although the US currently has a huge benefit with the M1 weapons system, it will not last for many more years.

We might wake up one day and find the China has eclipsed us, just as we eclipsed most of the "Great Powers" in the early 20th century.

Remember the magic formula:

GDP + Population == Military Might

Individual military units win battles, but the side that can sustain the logistics (GDP) of the war win in the end.

At the rate China is growing, their GDP should exceed the US's in about 2030ish.

If needed, our WMDs (of which we have almost unlimited supplies) could be enough to decide such a war quickly. Since China can't really feed itself, and American agriculture can basically feed the world food would be a huge tactical weapon favoring the U.S. Does China even have a Navy?

You are forgetting about the 10,000 nukes the US has. China's has 2 big problems with a war with the US. First is Russia to their north who will react against them if the Chinese try to move across the borders in a war and second we have a far superior navy. Any ships they try to put to sea against the US will soon be on the bottom of the ocean.

If China uses nukes first it will be the end of them as a country but will probably mean the US will lose cities as well. If there is a war and you live in either country you should move far from a city to survive.

ahh grasshopper, the USA does have many weapons of mass destruction. they are still in the silos of the upper midwest, plus, we still have any number ready for loading onto the bombers. there is also the possibility of a cyber war where the chi-coms hack into the US net and threaten to disable our infrastructure (banks, utilities, communications, whatever is attached to the WWW). they already have shot down (disabled) one of their satellites. the good thing, these countries that now own us do not want anything bad to happen to us (money). a shooting war would be disastrous for the world as a whole, or at least the pieces left over.

They don`t even need to fire a shot, because of Republican trade agreements and Republican greedy profiteers we owe China so much money that all they have to do is call up the notes we owe them and our economy would not be able to take the hit.
